Humbug

Perhaps it comes from outer space
This nasty old bug without a face
It jumps the moon in a single bound
And clings upon some mangy hound

It slaps your face with old nastiness
And leaves you alone to clean up the mess
So you moan and groan and bitch and whine
And drown your sorrows in a jug of wine

Bah, it responds with a surly retort
Grab the reindeer and man the fort
We must respond to the old humbug
We can’t sweep this critter under the rug

Come all ye Starlighters with paper and pen
Let’s kill this humbug all over again
Squish his head with a number 12 shoe
He’ll be deader than dead when we get through

Then there will be peace once again
With no more sorrow and no more pain
So perk up your chin and smile a bit
Or go hide in your closet and not give a $chidt
