Ode to a Chair

Come assuage this weary object
That measures settling of girth
My four legs are wobbly worn
Not long for what it’s worth

Her circumference was enormous
Such pressure far exceeds
Limitations of Mother Nature
And fractious furniture needs

Although I’ve done my duty
And received a pompous ass
Must my grain be replenished-
If I break apart like glass ?

The odors withstood were plenty
The foulness of which I speak
Beyond Imaginative description
Like wind not so unique

Take me not for granted, clod
That I will withhold your weight
There are poundage limitations
That just may seal your fate

You may find yourself a sprawling
Shrieking profanities all around
Fortunately your heavy bottom
Did not land upon cemented ground

The chair has thusly spoken
Neil Diamond must be aware
My existence now broadcasted
Just tell him I was there…

Listening

“I am I said, to no one there
And no one heard at all-
Not even the chair”
Neil Diamond
