In 1996, I won the overall win for poetry and prose for Composers, Authors, and Artists of America, the Fort Worth, TX chapter. I walked away with 7 of the 11 awards and then the overall win for both categories. I also came in second for photography with the Mazatlan sunset picture in my personal website, not to be mistaken for the Honolulu sunset in this site. What a boost that was to my self-esteem! WOW! CAAA is a professional organization and they had me listed as an artist because of my clowning, sewing, singing, art work, and as an author because I've had my own byline in several newspapers and won other awards with my writings.
