"The curfew tolls the knell of parting day"...can you tap out the rhythm of this line on your knee or on your desk? That is called iambic pentameter! The original is the opening line from... An Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard" by Thomas Gray. I have had a number of people tell me they cannot do that. I reckon you can! Ok. The first line of your poem must be...The curlew cries at end of passing day... (a curlew is a mournful sounding night bird). See if you can continue with this beat. Make sure you have 10 syllables on each line and at least 8 lines of poetry. You might be surprised but there is no penalty for being wrong. Just try...for me and for yourself. Smiles, love and blessings...Cherry
