Today, I received a communication asking me a question.... paraphrased as "Can you put the pictures of the winners from the traditional challenges on the home page in the same way as you do the new challenges?" As I responded, I thought that there may be a lot more people with that same question, so I wanted to share my answer here as well. The traditional challenges have a lot of great things going for them, but unfortunately they are difficult to automate, track and query. One of the most attractive features of the new challenges is that the data is stored in a database. This makes the entries and the winners easy to query on any number of factors for different purposes. The one item you mentioned, and that is the fact that a winner's picture appears on the home page is done automatically by the system. This is only possible because the data is available in the database. To do the same thing in the forums would be a lot more work and would involve a lot of manual effort. From what I have seen over the years, the better automated something is... the better it lasts. However, I do recognize the value of challenges being decided by the HOST. Therefore, I have changed up the Starlite Menu to group the challenges by decision method. We have Challenges decided by VOTE. and now... drum roll please.... We have Challenges decided by HOST in the new challenges As is typical for my style, I try to give everyone options. If a poet wants to compete in challenges where the winner is selected by the host, then they can now do that in BOTH challenges. Just check the menu out on the home page under the Challenge tab. In addition to the traditional challenges, we have added two new challenges. In these challenges, the next host is decided by the poem that the current host feels meets the criteria the best. Thank you for the question} Live to Love... Love to Live... the perfect circle
