Hello everyone...
I have something new that I want to share. I have been staying up way too late at night to work on this... shhhh don't tell the daytime boss. LOL It is not totally there, but I'm so excited that I want to share. You know how hard it is for me to keep a secret.
I am borrowing a page from the MySpace playbook. On MySpace, you have the option of making your profile private or public. I'm working to give Starliters the same options.
Why? There are lots of reasons. Here are three:
1) Stalkers...If you have someone bothering you, maybe you want to keep them from knowing as much about what you are doing.
2) Falling out between friends--don't leave the site. So often, people come to me and say I have got to leave the site. It is a great site but so and so is causing me trouble. Block them!!!
3) Maybe you just want to be private. Maybe you have lots of friends and you are comfortable with that group.
What does the two settings mean?
If you make your profile =Private, then only your Starlite friends (and they must be signed in) can see your full profile. Anyone not signed in or who is not your friend, will see a much more reduced profile. They will be given an option to request your friendship.
If Public (which is the default), the profile works just like it does today. Anyone can see your profile.
I have set my profile to Private. So if you are not my friend or you want sign out before going to my homepage, then you can see what a private profile looks like. It is not complete, but will give you a feel.

How do I set my profile?
You can mark your profile as public or private from the tab menu.
Go to the "Home" tab
Go to "Privacy Options".
This is not a complete solution. It is only the first step. It is not secure by any means. There are multiple ways of getting information about you at present time. However, I wanted to see how this would work.
If there is anyone who would like to try this out. I would be thankful for any feedback. I am holding off from announcing it on the main page until we have more the bugs worked out.

Melissa has graciously offered to allow her profile to be an example of a Starlite who has turned their profile to PRIVATE.
If you want to see what the end user will see then
If you are a friend of Melissa's then you must sign out of Starlite. Otherwise, you can go directly to her page.
