Author Message   Devinjeanel Starlite Moderator Username: Devinjeanel Posted on Monday, January 30, 2012 - 11:46 am:    Hello ALL I believe I have installed a fix into the Login process to correct the issue that has been plaguing us for the last week. Just to let everyone know, it started with a hard coded expiration date for all new Starlite Login. Anyone logging in after Jan 22, 2012 was being logged back out immediately. This explains why users were being returned to the login screen immediately. However, this was compounded by an outdated coding practices of using a specific command to include external file reference. Bottom line, it should be fixed now. At least it is for me. If there is anyone who can test, I would appreciate it. It should work as normal. If it doesn't work as expected, please update this thread. Thanks. Just for the record, we do not have any plans to shut down Starlite Cafe in the near future. If we do ever make that decision, we will give everyone plenty of time to save off their poetry. On the contrary now that my dad has retired and moved and that my life is coming back together, it is time to look into how we can improve the site. We are looking at the vision that we had before to allow our users an easy way to publish. One step at a time... First, lets get people logging back in. Live to Love... It has pulled through because of you the poets who have stood by their home and their friends they have made through the years. For many this home has been a life savor, myself included. We have shed many tears together and lost some beautiful souls along the way but their legacy still shines. We've stood beside one another and walk some difficult roads and yet we all still banned together. When one fellow poet needs a shoulder many come to their rescue and that's what it's all about. Banning together through hard times and this is one of those times. I just want to ask you all to not give up on our home. Poetrybox went down in November and was being dominated by a particular poet. Got to the point- he was the only one posting...the next thing i know the site is down and remains down. This poet seemed to be posting around the clock...as if he never went to bed...and a million words...anyway, believe i know who the culprit is...and i hope and pray that he is reported and will be made to pay for this horrible crime...believe he is either a manic depressive and in mania or is using speed! I will say this though to our hacker, whom I have a strong suspicion is watching this thread. You do not know the power of the Starlite poets. You may be reveling in whom you might think you have caused to leave here, but I can tell you that once you are found and your little games are put to an end, everyone will be back. So you want to have fun causing others misery? Well go for it because when the doors of Starlite is again opened to all of us who so cherishes this site and the friendship and love we have found here over many years, will be back in force. I have been assured by Barry, of who I will admit I did not know until all of this came about, but he seem to have the knowledge of what he speaks and he has assured me that all this person is doing is causing discontent among the members. So I say it is up to us to not let him do that. Barry has assured me that Devin is working on the problems and I will go on blind faith that is what is being done. The older members know that as long as we stick together WE ARE A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH. My sweet sweet Froggy As far as Devin giving us progress reports I just don't think we are going to get them. So lets focus on supporting and fellowshiping with each other. Poetry is not the only way we can share our hearts tho it is our choice way its not the only way.... I know I have not been active the past several months but life has been a total roller coaster ride... Joyful filled with more stress than I have ever had to deal with but I now see the light at the end of the tunnel and feel reasonably sure it is not a speeding freight train. I don't see anywhere that there has been any announcement, questionable content, or evidence presented. The person who sent me that email is probably just creating mischief while we are at our most vulnerable. The worst thing we can do is start guessing who the culprit is, or finger pointing at each other. This just serves to create mistrust and hurt feelings amongst ourselves. That's not what Starlite is about, nor is it conducive to Starlite's climate of community, family, and friendships. Now friends, I'll take a bowl of the stone soup if you don't mind, and can I have a cup of coffee too? And in Cherry's own sweet words, "hold on, believe, and pray." Hugs... Another thing is there is no real proof that the site has indeed been hacked, we all can sit there and assume but that doesn't get anyone anywhere but very anxious so please for sake of the friendships that have been made here lets stop all of that and use this for communicating and uplifting one another which we ALL need right now! Think about this for a moment...what if we didn't have this forum to have contact with one another, this door can be locked also, so please be patience until we know what is going on. I trust someone will tell us something when they are able to. When I receive the e-mail notification of a comment on my poem and I click on the "View My Poems" link in that e-mail, if it is a poet whoe logon id had an underscore in it (like my own) I get a message that says that the page can no longer be found. When it is a person with just letters (no underscore to separate any words) I get linked to their poems. It seems that something has changed which does not recognize the underscore as a legitimate character. Also, I have to use my old password (the one I used before the crash) to add to this thread, whereas I was able to change my Profile by using my new password (that was great since I hadn't been able to change my Profile for a long time before the crash.) None of my passwords allow me to login and edit my poems. So I wonder which is my real password now? Have you thought of hiring a geek? Could be helpful. Good luck in your efforts. I now can get to my homepage and I can also navigate to Starlite's home page, but the door remains closed to me as far as logging in at either place. Tracey I have tried several times to log in by my phone and get the same OK configuration message as I do when I try on my computer. I have always remained logged in at Starlite from my desktop if that should make any kind of a difference, and I also have an underscore between aspiring and angel if that is one of your problems in trying to fix things Devin. We are all going to have to have one heck of a party when we can all again be united inside our beloved Starlite. I feel like the old Mervin's department store commercial OPEN ... OPEN.... OPEN. I clicked forgot password when it wouldn't let me in. I did the password all over again. For some reason it sent me to code# I used the 2nd one it sent and I got in. I could not get to my poems by clicking poems under my icon I used the list above my bookmarked poems and when I clicked edit profile or poems it let me get to my poems. I clicked on Tom's picture listed in my friends and I was able to get to his poem he recently posted. It let me comment. I have not tried to get to challenges yet, but this part has worked for me. So I live in Calif., and I had my brother in Baltimore try to log on as me. He couldn't get in either. I use a Mac, he uses a PC. I use Firefox, he uses Internet Explorer. I use a desk top, he uses a laptop. My conclusion is, it's not the computer. I remember the problem started when we couldn't update our Starlite profile. It went down hill from there. I can't help but wonder if the bug started with our profiles??? I am not the admin or owner of the cafe, those are the folks who run things round here. I sent the information concerning an issue about emails and comments sent to players here. They will administer the punishments due to those entities, my information is backed through proper tracking systems. I do send my replies to the administration concerning any emails sent to me about your concerns. to include copies of your emails, Please take note of that. Do not think that I am being upset or mean but as I do not control any part of the cafe except through the same channels as every other poet here i can only send Admin the issues as they arise with my systems to help them to track down all of the problems. I know everyone is frustrated waiting for the system to get back up and running and seeing other poets who can post dose heighten that. But please be patient Devin and His Assisstant will get everything under control. The site will be fixed keep that knowledge in mind. Listen to starliteadmin they will keep every one up to date and provide any information that comes up to help other poets to get back to posting. and as Devin said this issue started when the hard time set came to it's end time not because of any one trying to take over. That did not happen and if Devin or admin messages you concerning donating or turning this site into a paid site or decides to close the site it will be made known by those who control those processes. As it is at this time it is a site where poets can donate if they wish or allow use of thier work to help keep the site up and running. It has been this way since this site was built. It is a Free site to write with the ability of poets to help keep the financial burdens of the owners down to a minimum. Again Devin and the administator will keep you informed about the system. I love reading everyone's work and i love writing for others to enjoy. I'll be above pleased when the site is back up and working at it's best. I need to try and get the best information that I can about the ones that can not. here is what I can do consistently 1) from the home page (with no cookies), I can login successfully. I see the Welcome Home message and am redirected to my home page 2) I can press the logout button from my Homepage. I am logged out. Without clearing the cookies, I can log back in. If you can not log in, please make sure you get a ticket open. I need to have step by step description of what you are doing. From what page, do you take what action? and what screen (url) and error message do you see (exact wording, please) Since I can't recreate any of the issues, it is hard for me to solve the issue. I do have a pretty good understanding of the login process and believe that I can find a problem if I see the exact error message. A screen shot is preferred. We want to get everyone working again. Please open 1 ticket for each person. I think going forward, we will be rewriting this site and removing some of this ancient code, but for now. Lets get everyone working that we can Live to Love... The site homepage is all out of line, but my homepage is normal, I'm having problems on commenting on some poems. I click comment and it just looks at me lol and the sitewide challenge page loads like snail. Just thought you should know.
