Sean this is one that I posted quite awhile back if you can use it please feel to do so
Subject: THIS THING CALLED "WAR"
I did not know what it would be like
When I signed up to go
I was off to see the world
So little did I then know
I'd work and learn a trade
And make a halfways decent pay
I'd be away from the folks
And home so far away
They said "You'll grow up fast"
They'll be no time to play
"And if you don't do it now
You'll soon began to pray"
I never figured to be in a place
So full of hate and fear
And when no one is looking
I shed for myself a tear
This is not the service
That I thought that it would be
I am scared and quite worried
About whats to come of me
I see the raging fires
As bombs go off in place
And I feel the gritty sand
As it stings me on my face
I feel the earth about me
Rumble from the blast
The destroyers and the war planes
Are moving oh so fast
The ships upon the water
Embrace for another night of war
Oh Dear Lord what I would give
To be back at home once more
But I am here for my country
And for my fellowmen
And I shall do whats asked of me
Til I'm back home again
I stand for my America
And will fight to keep her free
And do whatever is necessary
To keep our liberty

I'm Archangel (Sean Dunlavey) and i need to write a poetry anthology and i need war poems, 20 to be exact. i have three already and it was due on the 12th of may!!! |
