Tropical Storm Ernesto remains rather weak as it moves through the Florida Keys and into southern Florida. Locally heavy rain, to the tune of 4 to 8 inches, can be expected and some localized flooding is possible as Ernesto continues to slide northward through the Florida Peninsula on Wednesday. An isolated tornado is not out of the question. After moving up through central Florida, Ernesto may emerge once again over the open waters of the Atlantic on Thursday and could strengthen some. A hurricane watch has been issued for coastal areas of Georgia up to Cape Fear, N.C., but chances for Ernesto becoming a hurricane again is a long shot. Heavy rain may produce flooding across parts of the Middle Atlantic and Northeast as remnants of Ernesto work their way northward. In the western Pacific, Super Typhoon Ioke (160 mph) is foreast to swirl very close to or over Wake Island on Wednesday night (U.S. time). About 200 people have been evacuated from the island. Unfortunately, if it holds its course, Ioke will likely submerge and devastate much of the island. In the eastern Pacific, after becoming the 6th hurricane of the 2006 Eastern Pacific hurricane season earlier Tuesday, Hurricane John has quickly attained major hurricane status. It is now a Category Three hurricane with top-sustained winds of 115 mph. Hurricane John is churning toward the west-northwest about 175 miles south of Acapulco, Mexico. While the storm is expected to track parallel to the Mexican Coast and remain offshore, a tropical storm warning is in effect along the west coast of Mexico from Agunas de Chacahua westward to Lazaro Cardenas (including Acapulco). Although just brushing the coast, it may still provide some torrential tropical downpours and may cause life-threatening flooding and mudslides. John may reach Category Four strength on Wednesday.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone along Ernesto's path. It seems as if he will ride up the eastern seaboard. I pray Ernesto will fall apart and lose fuel. We do not need another hurricane so soon. I've been through so many now that I strongly dislike hurricanes now. Hurricane Isabel from last year which hit NC after Katrina was a mess and I've had it up to here with them. *Sigh* According to the projected path of Ernesto, it will ride up Florida and Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia and hopefully he will go out to sea. It's time to turn the rocking chairs upside down on the veranda and lock up the shutters and get plenty of gas for the generator and two weeks worth of food and water and toilettries and don't forget the batteries for the flashlight so you can get your generator going. I live in a flood zone area and it's the pits each time a hurricane comes by. Last year with Hurricane Isabel, CBS Nightly News came to my house and guess who was interviewed??? Yes, me! Talking about being put on the spot...I was! Good luck to one and all and God be with each one of you! (((Huggies and Lovies)))) Waving atcha from North Carolina, ~Capri~

My prayers for everyone in Ernesto's path. I talked to Donna tonight. She is just outside of Orlando. About 2 hours. St. Cloud I think. She says that they are saying that it could break up over Cuba, but that the gulf waters are warm enough to churn it up again and they do not know what direction for sure he will take. She is getting some wind and rain now and starting to think of preparations to leave if need be. She is in a modular so the threat of the outer bands and tornadoes is always a very real danger. Prayer for everyone. Hugs, Lesa Lesa Gay Aspiring Angel

Let's not forget the rest of the east coast as predictions put Ernesto riding the coast line pretty close after Florida. Those waters are warm enough still to fuel a strong hurricane along Georgia and both South and North Carolina and Virginia. There are quite a few folks from those states who are a part of Starlite.
