Oh thank the Lord for all the cards Shane received and more so...that he has such a good chance of being OK for the rest of his life.I have been wondering how he was doing, I heard about him recently on the National News and thought of you and the request you put here.

I thought I should let you all know how many cards Shane received....unfortunately the idea of getting into the Guinness book Of Records did not materialize....but that did not matter to this happy little fellow!
THANK YOU! All your birthday cards for Shane! You have helped him reach his goal and celebrate his 8th birthday with 5.6 million birthday cards! Shane's Mom has announced that his new chemo treatments have been quite successful in treating his cancer and he now has an 80-per cent chance of being OK for the rest of his life! Thanks again to each of you who sent Shane a birthday card....

Caprichos, Shane's birthday is the 30th of May, so you have plenty of time still to send it. |

sorry for not stopping by sooner, life has been busy. Me and my daughter will be adding our cards

It is officially 0501HRS EDT. Master Shane's momma would be mighty some kind of upset if I would send a brithday card to him being there's no way in the world I'd be able to get the card to Master Shane on time. I am happy to learn he has received so many bday cards as of late because any inspiration at all will do wonders for this youngun. I shall add him to my prayer list. Oh how I wish I would have seen this much earlier. I contacted FedX International and from my area zip code to Shanes address in Ontario for $32.00 I can send a card out tomorrow a.m. but it will not arrive for 3 days (AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT I THINK THIS LADY TOLD ME) Hard to understand her. I would have done this had it been there in time for little Shanes birthday.... no questions asked. The cost would be a mere pitance for what this little fella has gone through. But I will non the less get a letter off to him just the same even though it will not arrive by his birthday.
You mentioned that his parents do not want any cards after his birthday.This is why I shall mail a letter. How heartbreaking for his parents to watch their child battle this illness.
Tonight or today (whichever) let us remind one another (especially those of us with healthy children and grandchildren) how blessed we are after reading something like this. It is my prayer that Shane Bernier's name tops the last Guiness record for most cards received. ~Jacie~

My Dear One,
I just got home after being gone for several days. I shall be sending Shane a Birthday Card tomorrow. God bless him and you. I was just composing a letter to you when I got home and planned on writing you... and here I find this heartfelt message!!!
I love you dearly and my prayers are with Shane and his family now also.

I so rarely come here with my heart in my hand, but this is one time I am going to make an appeal to all.
The following was taken from a local newspaper article about a child named Shane Bernier.
Shane has leukemia and is 7 years old. He will be turning 8 on May 30th. In all likelihood, Shane will not see his 9th birthday. Shane is trying to get in the Guinness world book of records by receiving the most birthday cards ever. His parents do not want to receive any cards after May 30th. He is now receiving, and opening, about 2000 cards per day from friends all over the world.
For a small cost you can make a child smile.....
