I have copied and pasted it below, the name was changed in an e-mail which went out in 2004 and it was not true. Please read it all to understand.
Summary of eRumor
Thirty-two-year-old Cindy Hogman has been diagnosed with cervical cancer and with slim chances for survival. Her husband, Gary "Nick" Hogman asks your prayers. .
The Truth
A new version of this email started circulating in 2004 that claimed that Nick "Hogan" is a soldier serving in Iraq while his wife is back home suffering from cancer.
His name is Hogman, not Hogan, he's not a soldier in Iraq, and although the prayer request was true at one time, Nick told TruthOrFiction.com in January of 2002 that his wife was doing well.
He says he hopes that he and Cindy can grow old together...and thanks you for your prayers. He adds, "There are so many people in this world suffering from cancer, pray for them all."
A real example of the story as it has been circulated:
My Name is Gary "Nick" Hogman, Some of you receiving know me, some do not.
You have received this because I found your email address and just sent it to you.
My wife Cindy is 32 years old and has just been diagnosed 3 days ago with stage 4 cervical cancer and her chances for survival are very slim. She was pregnant with our second child and had miscarried at 5 months and now we know why.
This is a request for you to forward this email to everyone you know asking for prayer. If you are religious or not. The more people that pray f! or her to be healed the better. Company email distributions, friends, family, people you don't even know. Just forward them this email and let them do the same,
Pray and forward. It only takes a second to hit forward and click on any
distribution list you have. Please do it and don't delete this, your prayer
will save her life. Please pray and ask everyone you know to pray to their
Lord, no matter what religion for the HEALING of Cindy, removal of all cancer in her body so she may enjoy all that life has to offer,! and to continue to be the wonderful mother to our 5 year old son Michael. The power of Prayer is unsurpassed. Unsurpassed. I want the whole world to have her in their prayers the next few weeks. God will hear our cry.
Please do not be offended by my plea. This is only a request for your help.

You are right...this is on Snopes but the real Cindy and Gary 's last name was Hogman not Hogan.....this version was sent around the net in 2004 and was considered erroneous....... |

P.S. I checked this out on "Snopes," and it showed to be true, not just another "urban legend."
