I am so glad you are safe and sound Ruby...there were many prayers said and many candles lit for you..what an experience to go through...but you both were never alone! it especially warmed my heart to hear your son was rescuing cats...truly wonderful compassion in action! in poetry, Dory
If a poem speaks to you be sure and let the poet know what it said.

Hi Froggie! I am glad you weathered the storm with all our prayers surrounding you! We kept a close eye on things down there in my hubby's home town, knowing you and family we have there were going through such rough weather!! And bless your son for taking care of those cats! Hugs~Melissa~ Peace... is seeing a sunset, and knowing who to thank.

Hello Starliters: Thanks for all the prayers, they really helped, when it all started to get bad, strangely I did not feel fear,me who is terrified of darkness. When we actually lost power and Jim and I sat there in that cone of darkness with the wind howling at 80to90 miles an hour and the rain beating against the house like the sound of bass drums, I still was calm, I had a small 3 inch battery powered Tv so I could watch what was happening , and I had had my first 3 hour tank of o2 going, Suddenly Ikept hearing in my head a line from Morning Songs poem(I picture you dear sister, safe in God's arms ) this was so comforting . I kept thinking of my own personal angel ( Donna) watching over me and I felt strong, uncomfortable but strong. I knew the Starlite Warriors had gathered and suddenly my lights came back on ( only Mine) and stayed on about 30 minutes later my neighbours came on . I have had much proof in my life God lives, this was the third occasssion it was deeply personal. I am blessed .This is getting long but I must share a little more of The power of God and his people, when the senators asked the people of Houston to help feed the first responders who came to help them because Fema who despite being prestaged 500 miles away had not yet arrived 36 hours later ,they responded in such great numbers in spite of the fact they themselves have no power, no gas and only the provisions they have on hand gave so much like they did with Katrina that there was enough to have a food and water giveaway to people in the area who had nothing. The question remains where is FEMA, anyway Thank You God and Starliters and My beautiful Steel Magnolia sisters for loving me and throwing your powerful loving arms around this poor old Froggie once again, I will be forever grateful. Love Froggie |

HELLO HOUSTON!!! The California National Guard is there. The California Blackhawk helicopters are there. (proudly patting us Californians on the back). BUT WHERE IS FEMA??? Oh they're on their way, it's said. In the meantime, the VICTIMS of the hurricane are being asked to bring whatever food they have, to share with the volunteers that have arrived to help them. And knowing those Texans.....THEY WILL!!! Speaking of big hearts... Ruby's son couldn't stand seeing so many homeless cats running around. So he's bringing them inside their home so they'll have food and water. As of now, Ruby says they have about EIGHTEEN STRAYS in their home. Hows that for compassion? BUT WHERE IS FEMA??? (oh they'll get there. won't they?) |

THERE IS STILL FLOODING AND IS WAS MISERABLE, BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD THEY ARE FINE AND WE HUMBLY THANK THE LORD AND ALL OF THOSE ON STARLITE. SHE SAID SHE WONDERED IF WE WOULD CARE...ROTFL...THIS SHOULD SHOW HER! OF COURSE SHE CANNOT GET ON THE COMPUTER YET AND SHE WAS VERY TIRED. KEEP THE PRAYERS COMING. Hope all are fine. I have a niece and her hubby living at Houston and they spent a vigilant agonizing night. Their building's roof was shattered partially by the hurricane and as leaving in the top floor were getting lots of water inside. They are O.K. Prayers do work! |

I am glad to hear that Ruby is all right and Myrna also. What a good thing that she did not have to be by herself, I can't imagine how difficult that would be. It is always a blessing to hear of the good reports, I hope we hear from other Starliters also. I shall keep praying. sharon |

I'm happy to learn Myrna and Ruby are fine. I'd like to hear from Star West and Donna hoping to find they faired the storm fine. Let us continue to lift everyone in prayer who endured Hurricane Ike. The aftermath of a hurricane is what I do not like at all. I'm glad Myrna and Ruby are with family. Myrna, I thought about you a lot seeing you were on the worst side of the eye of the hurricane. Ruby, glad your electricity stayed on for you. Hugs and love to all. MoNi (Caprichos) xoxoxo Pleasant words are as Honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. -Proverbs 16:24 KJ

Great big hugs... ((((Dear Myrna)))) And great big hugs... ((((Myrna's daughter)))) And I'm praying that water stays outside, where it belongs. It just wouldn't be quite fair to be getting a DOUBLE WHAMMY!!! And I hope the news is just as good for the REST of our Starlite poets who were in Ike's stormy path. I'm still praying for ALL of you. Luv... Jeri |

I BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF PRAYER!!!
I just got off the phone with Ruby. Her power went off at 2:00 a.m., and at 4:00 a.m., the power CAME BACK ON, AND STAYED ON. All around her, are power outages, but Ruby's electricity is still on!!! The only damage to their home is a few lost shingles. THANK YOU, STARLITE PRAYER ANGELS. She said to tell you she loves you all, and she probably won't be online today, but just as soon as she is able to, she'll be here to thank you herself. Hugs... Jeri |

We awoke to the news that Ike had made landfall. Gas that high? That is such a rotten thing for someone to do! Our president could put a stop to that if he wanted too. My heart goes out to those in Texas and those who will get hit by the bands. Here in Indiana, we ourselves are under a tornado warning.
Peace... is seeing a sunset, and knowing who to thank.

MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH MYRNA,DONNA, MISS RUBY, STAR WEST (MARGIE), AND ALL THOSE IN THE PATH OF HURRICANE IKE AND THEIR FAMILIES. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH MANY HURRICANES ALTHOUGH UNLIKE HURRICANE IKE. I PRAY FOR THOSE WHO DECIDED TO STAY MADE CERTAIN THEY HAD ENOUGH PROVISIONS TO LAST AT LEAST SEVEN DAYS. THE STORM IS AS BIG AS THE STATE OF TEXAS. IT IS GOING TO MAKE LANDFALL AS A CATEGORY THREE. IT IS HEADED STRAIGHT INTO GALVESTON, TEXAS. THE WATER SURGE IS TO INCREASE BY ANOTHER 10-12 FEET. GALLONG IN TENNESSEE. GAS HAS BEEN REPORTED AS HIGH AS $7 A THE NIGHT IS FULL OF DARKNESS, WIND AND RAIN. LET US RAISE ALL THOSE IN THE PATH OF IKE. MY LOVE AND HUGS TO ALL... Just heard from Ruby. She says she's pretty scared, and she hopes everybody is praying really, really hard. The hurricane must love her too, because it's headed right at her. She says if she's really careful, she should have enough oxygen to last until the storm passes, about 20 hours worth. At that point, they can call the emergency numbers for a back-up supply. I told her not to worry. That the Starlite prayer warriors have been in here full force, and there are some mighty powerful prayers winging their way to heaven. Donna, I haven't heard from you. I'm praying that you will be alright too. Hugs... Jeri |
