Just another update.Maria found out today that it is a spider bite and not the Mercer Staph infection that they thought it was.They are still trying to fight it with antibiotics through the I.V.
Kenny her boyfriend remains on the heart floor.However today because they found out what Maria had was not contagious they took her in a wheel chair with the I.V. and took her down to see him.Thanks once again for the prayers.I know Mary and the family appreciate the prayers.As I do.God Bless each of you. Thank you for the prayers , To all who are praying.Just a little update.Mary`s daughter still has not her cultures back yet and her boyfriend had a stent put in today.They said he had 90 percent blockage in the main artery.They are both still in the hospital.The family really appreciates your prayers as I do also.maria is a special niece to me.Blessing`s Dorothy |

One of God's greatest gifts to mankind is the ability to converse with Him through prayer and Starlite gives us the chance to create awesome prayer chains to our God of mercy....Dearest Heavenly Father,We come to you in prayer asking that You watch over Maria and her boyfriend and send the power and calming healing that can only come from God..I also ask that my prayers be added to those prayers I missed while away from Starlite..Thank You again oh Mighty God for allowing us to pray to You..prayers and blessings..In God we trust..Philip |

Thank you for the update Dorothy, I have been praying for Maria and I shall pray for her boyfriend. May the Lord reveal Himself to Maria and her boyfriend and may they know His healing power.

I hav`nt heard much from Mary today as of yet about Maria,Her test results have not came in yet,but the doctor has said this morning that he may be able to treat her with the antibiotic`s through the I V.I came back here to ask of those of you that are praying ,if you would also pray for her boyfriend, he is now in the same hospital ,only he is on the heart floor,he was admitted last night,They are doing test on his heart today.They are not allowed to visit one another,that makes it extra hard.God Bless you all,and thanks to everyone who prays for them.Hugs Dorothy |

I am so sorry to hear this news. I am very familiar with this awful infection. I keep getting "Cellulitis" in both of my legs over and over again, and each time when I get it, I always end up in the hospital via 911. The first thing they do to me is draw many tubes of my blood from my central line, and send away the blood cultures that are mixed in looks like minature whiskey bottles and they send them away to rule out "MRSA". Cellulitis is also an infection, a very bad one but "IV Vancomycin" Antibiotic is the only way to treat staph. Many times, Cellulitis looks like "MRSA" and that is the worse but rare staph one can have, cause it does not respond to any Antibiotics at all. You can get staph and or MRSA
by scaping, cutting, scratching, even the smallest
nick can cause staph and or MRSA. I hope and pray she does not have MRSA, especially if she has autoimmune disease of any kind. I also have "Lupus" and my autoimmune system is shot, I can't even fight off a little cold.
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), which can cause an infection in different parts of the body. It's tougher to treat than most strains of Staphylococcus aureus or staph because it's resistant to most antibiotics. Because it's harder to treat, MRSA is sometimes called a "superbug." However, there are antibiotics that still treat this infection, but first the doctor needs to know the "strain" of the infection, "staph" or "Aureus" and she will be in the hospital and treat her with "IV Vancomycin" to start out with and continue drawing blood from her. She is a diabetic too !
Poor girl, that is the one thing I can honestly say........I am not a "Diabetic". Does anyone know where the infection started and what the area it started in looked like...red, swollen and hot ? Someone said it is spreading rapidly....is it on her skin or in her blood, I would be curious to know how and when this infection started and where on the body and what it looked like and her symtoms that ended her up in the hospital. Another name ..a shorter name for MRSA
in "Staph Aureus", like I said chances are she has a "staph", cause MRSA is really rare.
Other skin rashes or conditions may be mistaken for MRSA. A spider bite, a boil or pimple, or any red, warm, and swollen skin lesion may have the same appearance as a MRSA skin infection. My doctors run lab tests to see if I have MRSA. If she has an infection on the skin, her doctor will swab a sample of the infected area to test for MRSA. Thank God everytime they swab the ulcers, the test results always came back as "Staphylococcus" It is like the same strain that causes "strep" and not MRSA.
No I am not a doctor and I am not qualified to be one, this information is based on my own experiences for I get "Cellulitis" so much, too often and each time, I am admitted, and swabbed for "MRSA". I hope ths information helps you to understand better. Hopefully all she will need is "IV VANCOMYCIN ANTIBIOTICS" for a few days to make the infection go away, and hopefully she will be back home real soon, but she must be very careful. Both of these infections are highly contagous, especially if there is an open wound
and sharing the same towels, razors, etc;
Here at John's Hopkins Hospital they have signs up all over that say S.T.O.M.P. which meann
Stop..Transmissions...Of...MRSA...Permanently.
It is widely spread in hospitals,but when one has MRSA, they are put into isolation in a private room. I hope and pray she will have a very speedy recovery. I will pray for her along with the other Starliters that I always pray for.
Thank you for adding Mary's daughter to the Prayer List. We all know Prayers.....we can never have too much of.
Please keep us posted on her progress and recovery or if her doctors find anything else out.
I know this is exceptionally long, but I felt it was well worth it.(SMILES)

Mary (Just-Little-Me) has asked me to post a message asking for prayer for her daughter Maria.She is in the hospital ,with what they first thought was a spider bite ,but now believe it is a Mercer Staph infection,and it is spreading really fast.She also has diabetis and the doctor is waiting on test results but has said she will probably have to have some kind of surgery tomorrow when the results get back.Please keep her in your prayers.Blessings Dorothy |
