Jeri, I was thinking about you yesterday and missing you, wondering how you are. I am glad there is some improvement in his condition and I hope there will be continued improvement also. I hope the holidays will be bring some joy to the both of you, and we thank God for your wondeful children, the lady who helps and the good doctors and nurses.

Lots of hugs,
Norma

Dear friends, I'm so sorry for not posting an update on Dear Old Don sooner. And I want you to know that I deeply appreciate all of you who have prayed and expressed concern for the two of us.

For those of you who do not remember, Don lost complete use of his leg muscles. His diagnosis has a big long name, something like Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (or CIDP, for short). It is closely related to the Guillain-Barre syndrome.

He is somewhat regaining leg movement, but it is very, very slow. And I have discovered why I never wanted to be a nurse. Some nursing duties are just a bit yucky. LOL.

But I find myself celebrating each time I notice any small improvement, which seems to happen almost on a daily basis. He is now able to transfer to his wheelchair all by himself and is out of bed a lot more than before.

He saw a new physical therapist yesterday, who is specially trained for his type of condition. She couldn't promise that he would walk again, but she seemed to be enthusiastic about the progress that he has already made. My friends, I'm just sure he'll walk on his own again. I believe in miracles.

My back has continued to improve and I can walk with the aid of a walker. We have a lady who comes in for 2 hours a day, four days a week, to help with the housework, and of course, I could never have made it through without the help of three wonderful children who have gone far beyond the call of duty. There isn't enough room in this box to list all that they have done and all that they continue to do for us. God bless them!!!

Again, I thank each one of you for the prayers. I love every one of you.

Starlite rocks!!!

Hugs...
Jeri

Jeri,
My apologies for getting here so late in reference to Don and your Brother as I've been unwell myself and do not sign in as often anymore.

Please know that my thoughts, Prayers and well wishes are with you always.

Dear Starlite friends...well they say trouble arrives in three's, and my third one came yesterday. It seems I've re-injured my back and I can hardly walk. The good news is that it doesn't hurt when I'm sitting or laying down, but it's VERY painful to walk. Oh dear. This simply cannot be, because I'm supposed to be the care-giver when Don gets home. So I guess it's a trip to the doctor tomorrow. (sigh).

My brother has been released from the hospital, and it's just killing me not to be there for him. He's having some residual vertigo, double vision, and trouble swallowing. The good news is that he has some wonderful friends who have stepped up to the plate.

I've been in bed most of the day, but I'm aware of the outpouring of love and prayers from my beloved Starlite. I hope to answer each of you individually, just as soon as I find out that it's alright to be in a sitting position.

In the meantime, I want each of you to know that I appreciated all of you more than you can know. I remember when I first stumbled onto Starlite, never having a clue how much you all would come to mean to me.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Hugs and love...
Jeri

Thank you fellow Poets. Morning Song is aware of the outpouring of love here for her and all the prayers , Poems and well wishing,, She is still at the point of exhaustion and of course like the energizer bunny she just keeps on going from one hospital to another, I am sure she will make an appearance here in the thread to thank you in person when her world slows down to a dull roar and she find time to catch her breath But for now Consider your selves both hugged and thanked by her and myself for being the wonderful friends that you are.... More when I have more news,,, Froggie

\My dearest Jeri,
You have to know that my heart is filled with saddness for you right now!
Have been praying daily for your Don and for you!
Felt, also, that with a united effort of prayer by all of us...that it would make a difference...now i hear about the possibility that Don may be wheelchair bound...and am so sad...and have yet to accept the fact that miracle can't happen...that means am still praying for Don's legs to come back to life!!!...As i am praying for your back and all of those bones of yours that need to be thicker and stronger!
Now, i add your beloved brother to my prayers and know that with some speech therapy that slur will disappear...

You certainly have a full plate, my sweet friend, and if it ever seems too full, just write me or call me...am a good listener...in the meantime, the prayers shall continue on my end from here...for YOUR DON, YOU, and YOUR BROTHER!
Am praying more than once a day...and hope that everyone else is doing the same!
Know that you are loved by us all,
Sending you hope,
With }}}much faith in Our God,
Love, Theo}

NEW NEWS ABOUT MORNING SONG...She has reached the limits of both her physical and emotional strength. not only is she dealing with the fact that Don ha been transferred to a rehab facility more then an hours drive away... he is being prepared to ( if necessary ) adapt to a life time of wheel chair living. Because of the condition of her back this poses a number of problems for Morning Song, To further devastate her world her beloved brother who lives in the same town last evening suffered a stroke, Fortunately they got him to the hospital in time for medical intervention and as present it seems only the speech centers of the brain have so far been involved, and his speech altho present is slurred, Hopefully his recovery will be complete, She however having held up so bravely though so much is exhausted, So Starliters please pray for her you have loved her work for years,, now is the time to come together and show her the love she always gives us so freely..

AS A MATTER OF FACT,, THE PRIVATE CHALLENGE THEME OF THE WEEK hosted by Dory has turned into a deposit for you poems and prayers of hope for her.. Won't you please join me there and show her how much you care.. Thank you so much for listening ,, now please put your hands together and pray with me.... Sincerely Froggie

Update From Morning Song (Jeri)

I received an email from Jeri today. She has asked me to share this with you.

The following is from her email

" It appears that there isn't going to be a miraculous recovery like I had hoped would occur from the infusion therapy. And I have a feeling it's going to be a slow process after all. I see progress, but it's so very little. But the doctors said the are optimistic, so I'm trying to be too.

They are sending Don to a Kaiser Facility in Vallejo, which is about an hour and a half from here. They say it is a State of the Art Rehabilitation Center, and that he will receive intensive physical therapy (3 hours a day), and coping skills such as getting in and out of a wheel chair, and day to day living skills. But of course, I'm hoping he won't need those because he's GOING TO WALK AGAIN!!!:

Please Starliters, Continue to keep Jeri and Don in your prayers...

Thank you

My Dearest Jeri,
You have to know that i have been praying for both you and Don since i heard...when Ruby wrote me the other day and told me that Don was showing some improvement...and that they were treating the inflamation with steroids i had hope...not entirely sure what has happened but have a feeling with the combination of hemoglobin, rehabilitation therapy and Prayer coming from all of us here at the Starlite and from your own home family Don will return to you walking in the front door with both legs!
Know everyone will keep on praying and Dory will keep that candle lit!
As Debera has said: 'God Is So Good!'
Love you,
Theo
