Hello everyone! I am so not good at this stuff... talking about myself and family but there are two announcements I need to make that I am so proud to be able to share. First.. my son Joey and his wife are expecting a baby in February so this will grandchild number 7 for me. The newest member as of now is John Andrew II, just turned 6 months, and is a joy... laughing and smiling and so much like his grandpa and his daddy. Second and third announcements...my son Brett received his bachelor's degree from Nicholls State University in May. He settled on a General Studies degree but will be working on his Masters at a later date in either History or Education. Budget cuts in our state forced him to refocus his major and thus the General Studies degree. Now I am so proud because this kid got caught up in the Hurricane Katina and Rita situations and literally missed a whole year at college. He decided to attend Nicholls so he could commute and has held full time or two part time jobs every semester he's been in school... also he's had some health issues even including a mini-stroke last semester. Now for the next announcement.. I am proud to say he is the newest member of the Nicholls State University Police Department and will be attending the academy for post certification shortly. Both of my boys are now police officers and I am so proud of each of them. My son Joey has been an officer for 9 years and a K9 officer for 7 of those years. Now onto the eye issues I've been having.. Yes, it is serious and though I would like to say it will not affect my vision, that is yet to be determined. As my doctor says my visual acuity is in an area where I likely would not notice the change unless it were worse than he expects to happen. I also have an allergic condition and the allergen seems to be flourocarbons. (Try getting away from that..LOL) I will be on medication for the rest of my life to stablize the more serious condition. Though there is a laser procedure available that has shown some success, I am not nor will ever be a candidate for it. I explain this because some have wondered why I have not commented as much on poetry or why the challenges have been slower to be posted. I have very strict limitations on computer time now and one of my children watches me like a hawk. It's so I do not cause unnecessary eye strain to the muscles thus causing pain and in so doing possibly aggrivating the newest culprit. This condition is treatable but not curable. It's just another bump in the road for me really. As my eye doctor said, it broke his heart to give me the diagnosis but he knows me well enough to know I can handle this and besides now I have to go visit him occasionally and can't get out of it. Yes, he knows me well! On a final note, let's please keep Ruby in our thoughts and wish her a speedy recovery. Thank you for reading.. whewww glad that's over.. nope I don't do these well..)) Myrna (Kajuncutie) Do not speak to me loudly so that I might hear you... speak to me softly so that I might listen. ****** Writing is my passion. Reading is my escape. Living is my reward.
