The U.S. Marine
Marines are dying day by day
Fighting Steadfast in harm's way
Fireteams trying to keep the peace
Marine's lives are lived on lease
Squadrons at ready to fly the course
To disable the enemy at the source
Support on the ground anxiously await
With deep concern for each crew's fate
Older Marines feel family's pain
For death we feel great disdain
So many gone that we have seen
Once a Marine, always a Marine
None are forgotten and that's a fact
Strong and brave and powerpacked
Esprit de corps will never die
Not in us, or those beyond the sky
Bound by duty, honor, and trust
Fulfilling missions we know we must
Standing strong thru out our lives
Faithful to God, Country and Wives
War is Terrible, not a game of tag
A Marine is ready, he will not lag
But peace and honor is victory
No wars at all for the future to see

If we honor our brave fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines etc. by writing poetry capable of transforming and transcending the world, then I believe they will not feel that they died in vain, as they continue to live in memories of the heart in their loved ones left behind.----------May 26, 2012.
