Mick, read the books! Please! You will love them, especially if you have an inch of geek in you! I have several yards of it!

And I guess the movie is just ok from Angie's review, and I can tell she always takes a towell with her whenever she travels beyond this planet! Maybe the fans of the books are too true to them to have a movie ever do justice? Heaven knows it took way too long to get to the big screen!

And Dave, my good old friend Dave, I am ROTFLMAO about the Vogon poetry section! Yes, we do need one and you sir, are a true Hitchhiker fan!

For those who don't know, Vogan's are the worst poets in the universe. They write odes about lumps of green putty found under arm pits and think it is deep!

I think we will go and see this! And we will for sure pull out the old guide book and read again the words that made us laugh so many years ago! That is if I can get someone to stand in front of the bull dozer for me while we do so!

Brain the size of a planet and you ask me to comment on a film? Not enough for me to be trapped on a spaceship with a twoheaded egomaniac
a guy who named himself after an insignificant British car another who won't change out of his dressing gown, I'd rather be with the Vogons, why isn't there any Vogon poetry on this website?
Life, don't talk to me about life. I'm off to talk to a few dolphins, ps they say thanks for all the fish....

Aye, saw it the day it came out over here :-)

As a comparison to anything else - radio show, books, tv show - definitely a big downer. All the best jokes - like, the pages about the babelfish and the towel - gone-diddly-one! I couldn't beleive it!
And a few other things that just rose my mettle somewhat (Trillian - no mention of her not being 100% human. Marvin is round, shiny and cheerful looking whatever his voice sounds like, etcetcetc...)

As a fim on it's own, it wouldn't create a cult following, but it's not bad.
Sorta funny, acting and script a little dodgy sometimes but overlookable.
But, it's a pleasant film, made me a smile :-)

And that bleedin' dolphin song is still stuck in my head...
Angie

I must of been after or during this time.....just my luck! I've seen the trailer though and look forward to seeing it soon; it actually sounds like a movie worth going to see rather than just downloading off the net.

Way back in my grad school days, I remember reading the series of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books. All, in my circle of friends, took much delight in reading these, and discussing them with one another. Of course we were all a bunch of math and science geeks! We were known to participate at parties in such exciting things as well, calculator races!

All that aside, has anyone seen the new movie based on this? (I also know this was a series originally in the U.K.) If so, what say you?

Also, I would be interested to know how many fans of the books are out there in Starlite land?

I am hoping the movie is good! If it is, I am going to plan to take my hubby for part of his upcoming birthday treat!
