You are so right Gracie. I have tried other sites and they are harder to get around in and they don't send me a copy when I post.
Renee told me that the only way to change the name on my poems was to do another profile and I did it was easy and I can still get to my older poems if I need to. Change is inevitable, we just need to flow with it. You will never be able to please 100% of the users. Thank you Starlite for being here. Anna |

The site has been going through some changes over the past few months. There is actually only one true moderator and she handles the challenges only. Our administrator, Renee, passed away last autumn and she was a big part of the functionality. The owners are now trying to keep up with the site and work their own jobs, and they have no staff. The site is free so of course funds are limited to what donations and advertisements can afford. Those of us who have been here for a good while are just trying to go with the flow and appreciate what Devin is providing. To change a pen name or picture might not be the most important things we think about. Please try and understand this. We would hate to see the site go away! Starlite is the best poetry website on the net bar none, with or without a few things such as modifying your profile! If need be you can delete your profile and start again. I have looked at quite a few sites and have found that most do not even come close to having the capabilities that we enjoy here. Most do not allow a profile, do not have posting options to customize your work and rarely do I see any challenges. Sometimes we just want it all right now, and I have been guilty of that myself. As far as lost work, I have no idea. But I know someone who has put it in perspective quite well the letter she wrote regarding the challenges. I realize you are not speaking of challenges but I do believe this letter applies just as well. Here is the link, and I refer you to the post from Kajuncutie.

One more thing, if you lost poems written when you were a teen, you should probably consider having a copy of your work in a safe place off the internet. I had a complete web site with my poetry and my two brothers songs, and numerous other pages of family keepsakes. I and a friend had too many hours to count spent on building it. It was on 250free.com. One day the site closed,with no warning and no option for recovering anything. The internet is not dependable under any circumstance. Thankfully we still have our originals. |

Have you tried to contact Devin..He would be the one to help you...for sure. Or maybe his mom and dad. and they possibly could find out ...I am a mod but cant tell you much about that. Hope yu can get someone to help you...soon. Landis  |

Good luck trying to get a response contacting the site for help. I have been trying to update my profile but it keeps asking for my pen name. My pen name is my real name and it won't let me edit it. I have contacted several moderators with no response. |

Been with site since 2000- left for many years then came back in 2007 for a couple poems. 53 in total here and under my account I am only showing 1, when I got back on last night after several more years. The poems are still on site and under my name- loca. So, what happened and who do I ask about this? Have I missed a link somewhere? Please help if you know. These were written as a young teen and I would like them all together. |
