I also have tried to change my password using the "Forgotten Password?" option, but I never recieved the activation email for it to work. That seems to confirm that something is amiss here on the site in terms of not everything functioning like it used to. It seems a lot of old features like this and the Send Ticket for help are just not working at all. Which severely limits the amount of help a new member can get in regards to having problems sorted out properly. Are there any other sites that are like Starlite Cafe, but still functioning... that is, sites that are still actively being maintained; some that folks could recommend to me? Preferably, sites that allow one to post both poetry and short stories. I have searched on Google, but it is hard to determine just via a search whether a site is active or inactive. Thanks in advance! 
Update: I just got the activation email and the link in it correctly changed my password. Still the same error when posting in anything other than Introduce Yourself, and still the same issues with the Send Ticket option. It looks like the only remaining alternative is to find a more active, maintained site other than Starlite Cafe.

My idea did not work. I just tried again twice with two totally different profiles that I just set up, both with a totally different password. Both times, I got the *exact* same message as I did before: "Your username/password combination was invalid, or you do not have permission to post to this topic. You may revise your username and password using the form at the bottom of this page." When I try to post anyplace except under Introduce Yoruself. I not only tried typing in my password, but I also copied and pasted it from the text file I have it saved on so I will never forget it. No errors in the password itself, therefore. So it seems to be something wrong with the site, when someone is joining the site right now, as opposed to when they had joined in the past. I would imagine older profiles would work quite well. It is only newer profiles like mine that are likely affected by this. Very strange stuff, and also rather frustrating too! It is sad if it is the site, because it means the site is not being maintained the way it used to be, which severely limits new members or older members like me who want to return to the site again after having deleted their older profile(s). |

I've got my password right. What I think I will do is delete this current profile and try setting up a profile until I hit on one that works, since it seems to be very iffy. That way, I will be sure to have one that works in the end.  |

I am really sorry you are having these issues and wish I could help you more I have 2 user names here and as long as I am signed in under one of them and it shows at the bottom by the posting I have always been able to post. Do you sign in when enter the site or are you always signed in. The only thing I can think of is you may have forgotten your password. I know I have done that on occasion (my computer keeps that info so I don't have to remember all the time) where I for some reason was not signed onto the forum I wish to post on. Of course I am not a great typer either and sometimes my fingers are faster than my thoughts. I have not been on much lately so that is why I did not reply quicker, sorry.

Ok, thanks for the swift response, Renoir and Viking! I'm looking in my options, and the only thing relating to the forums I can see is the Favorites list. I don't really see anything that could explain why I am unable to post anywhere but in Introduce Yourself. I changed my password too, and that did not resolve the issue. My username and password are both displaying 100% correctly when I go to post. It is only when I click Preview / Post that the same old error pops up that says: "Your username/password combination was invalid, or you do not have permission to post to this topic. You may revise your username and password using the form at the bottom of this page." I must say this is most strange. I have never before experienced this here at Starlite, except when I first joined as Grailknight777 back around 2008. Back then it was resolved by sending a bug report ticket to the site, which is just not working this time around, as I mentioned previously. |

Sometimes you need to sign in again. If you don't see your username below where you are posting, sign on again there. I have a problem everyonce in awhile with it. There are updates that need done to site but I don't believe the admins have the time required to do it all. They give it their best. I do think Devin needs to focus on getting the errors fixed. |

I will try again, to ask for help regarding this problem I am having. Is there any admin or site official here that will read this post and fix the problem I am having with posting on all the forums? As it stands now, I can only post here in Introduce Yourself and that is horribly limited. If there is no admin or site official here, if the site is being no longer maintained, can we please be notified of this? I tried once again to send in a ticket for help and I still got the error about the SQL syntax. It looks like these problems are not simply going away on their own. If the site is basically being let go, I may end up needing to move on to a more active, up to date poetry site. |

I am having a problem. I cannot seem to be able to start a new thread or post in any forum but this one (Introduce Yourself) without the following error message: "Your username/password combination was invalid, or you do not have permission to post to this topic. You may revise your username and password using the form at the bottom of this page.", and I cannot even send a ticket to get help for it because I get a message saying something like "Error has occurred: You have an error in your SQL syntax" whenever I try. Is there any way to to fix these problems so I can post normally and get help when I need to? Thanks in advance. |
