Who incited David to count the fighting men of Israel? (a) God did (2 Samuel 24:1) (b) Satan did (1 Chronicles 21:1). If one reads carefully these two scriptures there is no contradiction as (2 Samuel 24:1 says that God is angry with Israel due to the "one" that incited David to sin and (1 Chronicles 21:1). states that this "one" is called Satan. These are the 2 scriptures mentioned: (2 Samuel 24:1) And again the anger of God came to be hot against Israel, when "one" incited David against them, saying: “Go, take a count of Israel and Judah.” 1 Chronicles 21:1). And Satan proceeded to stand up against Israel and to incite David to number Israel |

WHAT GOD HOLDS OUT FOR MANKIND AND WE WILL HAVE FREEDOM FROM FEAR: "God, who started mankind off in a lovely garden, has promised to restore Paradise on this earth under the rule of His heavenly Kingdom in the hands of the now glorified Jesus Christ. (Genesis 2:7-9; Matthew 6:10; Luke 23:42, 43) In that restored Paradise, the human family will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from all sickness and disease. (Revelation 21:1-4; compare Job 33:25; Isaiah 35:5-7.) Gone, too, will be all hatred, racial prejudice, ethnic violence, and economic oppression. It will be into such a cleansed earth that Jehovah God through Jesus Christ will resurrect the dead. |

Sura XXVII THE ANT - Verse 40 And one who had the knowledge of Scripture said "I will bring it unto thee in the twinkling of an eye." And when he saw it set before him, he said "This is the Favour of my Lord to try me whether I will be thankful or unthankful, and he who is thankful is thankful unto his own behoof, and to him who is unthankful, surely My Lord is Seof Sufficient and bountious." thats what my copy says anyway

ZAHEER FROM THE QURAN:WHAT THE QURAN SAYS ABOUT GOD'S NAME: The Qur’an tells of someone “who was deeply versed in the Scriptures.” (Al-Naml [27]:40, NJD) In explaining this verse, a commentary known as Tafsir Al-Jalalayn says: “It was Asaph the son of Berechiah. He was a righteous man. He knew God’s greatest name, and whenever he called on it, he was answered.” But who is this Asaph the son of Berechiah who knew the greatest name of God? The Qur’an very often advises turning back to God’s ancient books in order to obtain the answers. (See Yunus [10]:94; Al-Nahl [16]:43; Al-Anbiya’ [21]:7.) These tell us that Asaph the son of Berechiah was the one who by inspiration wrote Psalm 83. (1 Chronicles 15:17; Psalm 83, superscription) Verse 18 of this psalm says: “That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth.” We thereby see that “Jehovah” is the greatest name |

Thank you for the nice comment Zaheer. Your God and my God have not given us a spirit of fear. Our God is a loving God and provides our every need. You are a remarkable person and seem to be firmly grounded in your faith. I've been following a couple of your threads. Very interesting conversation going on and I am learning some things I didn't know. I'm always open to knew understanding, makes for better friendships and a happier, more free world to live in. As I've been surfing the internet looking for information RE: Islam vs Christianity, I am finding that people misquote the Quran just as much as the Bible and twist it to meet their own objectives. That's sad. I am enjoying getting to know you and Aliann. Annie |

Good Morning, I'm Annie and I would like to introduce myself to those of you who do not know me already. I'm American. I live in Vermont. I'm elderly which means I've been around a bit and been around awhile. I wasn't born yesterday or in the dark...or maybe I want to take the "in the dark" part back because I haven't always believed what I believe today, I haven't always seen the light nor have I walked in it. I have certainly done my share of stumbling around in darkness and shadow within my own life...I've had to struggle through my fears and hardships. However, we all, no matter who we are or where we live may have FREEDOM FROM FEAR and right now there are a lot of scared people out there, worldwide. Seems everyone is looking over their shoulder and wondering when the next horror is going to happen. We are walking in shadaow...our shadow of death, our shadow of fear. Some of you who do know me, know that I write childrens stories, poetry, essays and articles and am a freelance writer for a couple magazines as well as posting and being published on the internet worldwide. I'm not a great or famous author but what I write I try to write well and I hope it will be insightful, be meaningful and give some sense of hope, inspiration, information, joy or a just plain chuckle to the reader. Some folks like what I write and some do not. Some agree with me and others do not and that is okay, it is your choice. Choice, another freedom we all have, that of free will, innate. Free will, however is another subject for another time. Right now I want to talk with you about FREEDOM FROM FEAR. These last few days have been just a little unnerving again at best, terrorist attacks, fires, storms, kidnappings, what have you. Kind of makes you want to pull your shades, lock your doors and crawl under your bed to hide. That is not a good feeling, nor is it the feeling God would have us have. My heart cries for our friends in Great Britian, especially in London. Once again the world trembles. Let me remind you of something...Do you know the Lord, Jesus Christ, as your personal Savior, Lord of your life, your King of kings? If you don't, you might want to think about it. Then listen to these words from His Holy Word, the Bible, and Fear not. This does not mean however we should live our lives without caution. We should never set ourself up for disaster but neither should we be afraid to go about our daily lives. I want to encourage you to keep the faith, lean on Jesus. Trust Him completely in everything...And for those of you in the path of the oncoming hurricane and the storm season still ahead...even the wind and rain harken unto the voice of the Lord. PSALM 23...The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. There are many things in life that cause us fear, anxieties in our lives aside from Terrorist and storms but it doesn't have to be that way towards them or other things like these common fears are; fear of not having enough to meet your daily needs, one of our greatest fears, the fear of death, fear of rejection, fear of heights, crowds, being in a close place, the dark, animals, being on water, flying, riding on public transportation, even what we look like, our weight, being laughed at or poked fun of, fear of the past or our future, fears of health issues, germs, I know a lady who is an obsessive/compulsive when it comes to clean and then there is the fear of commitment, and the list can go on and on. All of these situations can become very overwhelming to the human mind and actually destroy our health and even our life but none of them have to. God is still in control. No matter what trial or tragedy we must go through He will see us through according to His perfect will. Trust Him. We celebrate many freedoms here in America and in other countries around the world and for those of us who believe in the Lord, one of our greatest freedoms is FREEDOM FROM FEAR. Fear is the devils game, it is Satan playing headgames with you. God did not give you a spirit of FEAR. You were not born to be afraid. You were born to be wise, knowledgeable, cautious, aware and reasonable but NOT afraid. Give all your fears, your anxieties, whatever is troubling you, causing your life pain and sorrow to God, in Him through Christ all things are possible, even overcoming our fears. Listen to what God has to say... Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe. Proverbs 29:25 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:32-34 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. Psalm 91:4-6 Be not afraid. Prayer changes things and God is always with us when we choose to give our lives to Him and to follow. He will lead us through all our valleys and over all the rough roads we may face in our lives on the Earth. WITHIN SUNSHINE OR STORM When my life is filled with sunshine and my blessings overflow, oh how easily I sing with praise, each day, my life aglow... Then there come the times the clouds roll in and shadow the sunshine, darkness seems to surround me, oh Lord, it's then I whine... Forgive me, Lord, I've not for need, though for sunny days I pine. I know, Lord, You are with me in shadow and sunshine. Lord, it's so easy to be grateful when my path is bright, I've much to share but when life seems dark and empty I sometimes doubt and wonder if You're there. Then I hear You whisper, see that glimmer of a light, that hope I've always found in You as You guide me on the path that's right. Lord, help me keep a thankful heart in sunshine or in storm, realizing that Your blessings, Lord, come in many guise and form.
