This topic is a minefield...while I don't necessarily think some of Coulter's thoughts don't have merit, this is one area where I believe she should have let it alone...9-11 is still too painful, too fresh and her critical, biting remarks about those women is totally over the boundaries of empathy, taste and decency. She couldn't possibly know what those families have been through. ...the best is yet to be

She is only exercising free speech. Anyone regardless of their political leanings that uses their own personal tragedy to their own political gains should be called out. I seem to remember Sen. Clinton dealing with the aftermath of 9/11 ONLY when there were cameras present, never behind the scenes like Sen. Shumer or then Mayor Guliani. 9/11 was and will always be a tragedy, but you cannot have the left exploiting it as they have then get outraged when someone from the right calls them out on that. Challenging that person for exposing those who exploit the tragedy is as wrong as letting those women get away with it. By the way I cannot stand Sen. Shumer, his arrogance, his partizan antics, and his egotistical ways but I commend him for his tireless work after 9/11 helping families and victims most times away from the media. Ann Coulter, is very conservative, but she is only exercising her free speech. |

Anyone who mocks widows of 9/11 victims, calls them harpies and witches should suffer the same fate Coulter wished on Liberals regarding their First Amendment rights. As for using 9/11 for political gain, topping the list, GWB. Now we've given Coulter her five minutes of fame here at the Starlite, let's move on to something that matters. OK?

What's a Military Family Worth? by Rush Limbaugh March 11, 2002 I think the vast differences in compensation between the victims of the September 11th casualty, and those who die serving the country in uniform, are profound. No one is really talking about it either because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11th. Well, I just can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11th attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million. If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable. Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt. Keep in mind that some of the people that are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough. We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11th families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well. You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over fifty years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. "Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." --Adlai E. Stevenson, Jr. Every time when a pay raise comes up for the military they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low rent housing. However our own U.S. Congress just voted themselves a raise, and many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one-time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month and most are now equal to be millionaires plus. They also do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7 you may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed you in harms way receive a pension of $15,000 per month. I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting. ...to all of the membership who sent this particular piece... Thank You... http://www.swatsr.com/usscone/milfamily.html Franklin Roosevelt and Alfred Landon want to destroy you, because they want to destroy me. I am one of you, AND I WILL NOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN! YOU MUST NAIL THE HIDE OF THE SON OF A BITCH TAHT IS SEPERATING YOU FROM THAT WHICH IS NEEDED TO LIVE TO THE WALL! Two points: 1. Since military service is voluntary, if you don't like the benefits, why enlist? 2. If Bush had read his daily briefings, and the FBI had done their job, 9/11 would never have happened. Gross negligence on the part of both, I'd say, so why shouldn't families of survivors be entitled to compensation? What's the usual compensation for a wrongful death? Seems like 1 - 4 million's in the ballpark. Would you value the life of one of your family members at less than that? (Edited for typo) (Message edited by egantry47 on June 15, 2006) |

1.) Why enlist? The benefits are satisfying by simply knowing each military member is there to bond and share an experience of a lifetime to defend our country, the colors of our flag, to protect Miss Liberty and the American people. I, however, believe, President Bush should not have sought after Saddam Hussein, but rather south after Osama Bin Laden because it was Bin Laden who terrorized NYC on 911. So many young men and women have given their lives for the country of Iraq when they were deceived in believing Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. They were sent there to police the people of Iraq. Our military were not defending our country, hence, they were defending the oil in Iraq. Al-Queda is who America should focus on in depth. Here's Osama Bin Laden in Sandals and a wearing a Turbin on his head and walking from cave to cave with a small group of people in the arid middle east and our special forces can't catch him? There is something very peculiar about this scenario! Or is it because President Bush and Bin Laden are still good friends? Oil, greed, death and destruction. What's next? Or shall I say this is the very beginning to WWIII? President Bush has lied to the American people. We need to get the young men and women out of Iraq and let Prime Minister Maliki take care of his own people. They've been fighting for years anyway so what's the deal here? Oil? Uh-huh! Now we have Iran, China and North Korea to worry about when there's so much hoop-lah about worrying over Mexico when they do not have any weapons of mass destruction. 2.) If only Condi Rice would have given President Bush a letter that was written to him a month before 911 took place...if only the President would have opened that letter before 911 not the day after 911! However, he knew it was going to happen that's why he was in FL and then flew to LA and then to CO and then to WY and finally made it back to D.C. and slept downstairs with Roseann and Condi in safety quaters. THURSDAY, JUNE 8, 2006 USA TODAY WWW.ImpeachBush.org He lied to Congress and the American people to launch an illegal war of aggression He set up a worldwide network of secret prisons, torture and assassinations. He unleashed a massive unconstitutional wiretap and spying operation against the people of the United States Over 700,000 people have already voted to impeach The Constitution cannot defend itself. The American people must act. CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES- ARTICLE 11, SECTION 4 THE PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT AND ALL CIVIL OFFICERS OF THE UNITED STATES, SHALL BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE ON IMPEACHMENT FOR AND CONVICTION OF, TREASON, BRIBERY, OR OTHER HIGH CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS. Demand Congress Impreach Bush. Send a letter today by going to: www.ImpeachBush.org As far as Ann Coulter, no, she will never know what it feels like to wear military combat boots and dehydrate in arid lands of the middle east. As far as Rush's article posted by Lewis, Rush hit it right on the nose. There is a major difference between an officer and a non-commissioned officer. However, our own U.S. Congress who receives $15k per month when they retire is simply outrageous when our troops should be given raises and higher dollar pensions. After all, it's our military whom shed blood for the price of freedom. Old Glory still flies and high she does, still, our Armed Forces desperately need to be acknowledged for all they do and have done. Amen! 911 shall never be taken lightly nor ever forgotton. Osama Bin Laden needs to be caught. Let Iraq take care of their own! ~Capri~ |

Hate to bring in this nasty bit of reality to those who say it's all Bush's fault. How come then president Clinton failed to arrest Osama Bin Laden twelve yes 12 times since the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993 ? Answer that first then you can join the " foaming at the mouth Bush must die but we don't vote ". Bush is doing a bad job as president, but he has had to be janitor in charge cleaning up that huge mess the previous administration left him that came to fruition in 9/11. Twelve times, why doesn't anyone get outraged at that for a change ? Some legacy, Clinton smart man wasted years, horrible side effects. |

Caprichos, hate to tell you this but your figures on what congress reps get for pension is wrong. Some have been slippery enough to write themselves into the millions for the year. Even though some made their money from tobacco, slavery, and being vice president. Poor Al Gore now he has to take money from OBL's family, seems the millions just are not enough for him to live on. Yet another reason all reps need to taken to term limits. |

Who do you think will clean up the mess Bush leaves? "The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him." - G.W. Bush, 9/13/01 "I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care." G.W. Bush, 3/13/02 When Neil Bush addressed the JEF did he take more or less money from OBL's family than poor Al Gore?

C F R B Toronto 1973 http://www.tysknews.com/Depts/Our_Culture/americans.htm The Americans Gordon Sinclair Radio Station CFBR 1010 2 St. Clair Avenue West Toronto, Ontario, Canada "LET'S BE PERSONAL" Broadcast June 5, 1973 CFRB, Toronto, Ontario Topic: "The Americans" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The United States dollar took another pounding on German, French and British exchanges this morning, hitting the lowest point ever known in West Germany. It has declined there by 41% since 1971 and this Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least-appreciated people in all the earth. As long as sixty years ago, when I first started to read newspapers, I read of floods on the Yellow River and the Yangtse. Who rushed in with men and money to help? The Americans did. They have helped control floods on the Nile, the Amazon, the Ganges and the Niger. Today, the rich bottom land of the Misssissippi is under water and no foreign land has sent a dollar to help. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy, were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of those countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When distant cities are hit by earthquakes, it is the United States that hurries into help... Managua Nicaragua is one of the most recent examples. So far this spring, 59 American communities have been flattened by tornadoes. Nobody has helped. The Marshall Plan .. the Truman Policy .. all pumped billions upon billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now, newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent war-mongering Americans. I'd like to see one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplanes. Come on... let's hear it! Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tristar or the Douglas 107? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all international lines except Russia fly American planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or women on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy and you find men on the moon, not once, but several times ... and safely home again. You talk about scandals and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everyone to look at. Even the draft dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, most of them ... unless they are breaking Canadian laws .. are getting American dollars from Ma and Pa at home to spend here. When the Americans get out of this bind ... as they will... who could blame them if they said 'the hell with the rest of the world'. Let someone else buy the Israel bonds, Let someone else build or repair foreign dams or design foreign buildings that won't shake apart in earthquakes. When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name to you 5,000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbours have faced it alone and I am one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of these. But there are many smug, self-righteous Canadians. And finally, the American Red Cross was told at its 48th Annual meeting in New Orleans this morning that it was broke. This year's disasters .. with the year less than half-over… has taken it all and nobody...but nobody... has helped. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL SCRIPT COURTESY STANDARD BROADCASTING CORPORATION LTD. “Every collectivist revolution rides in on a Trojan horse of ‘emergency’. It was the tactic of Lenin, Hitler, and Mussolini. In the collectivist sweep over a dozen minor countries of Europe, it was the cry of men striving to get on horseback. And ‘emergency’ became the justification of the subsequent steps. This technique of creating emergency is the greatest achievement that demagoguery attains.” —Herbert Hoover

Didn't Herbert wear a dress?Thats what I heard Jimbo.Of course it was a Liberal that made that statement though,so it's authenticity is suspect. Emergencys are in the eye's of the beholder.Say you are in a high rise about 81 stories up and you see a plane heading right at you...now that's an emergency. Lets say you are a Marine in Lebanon, asleep in your barracks and they blow the damn thing up.Now that's an emergency.I believe a collectivist sweep is happening right now in Europe...by the Muslims. Of course that's not P.C. to say that.So shoot me,I'm just the blues player. |

Right on Bubby! Though I would hardly label Herbert Hoover a liberal. It was the other Hoover that liked to cross dress. You know, the head of the FBI. Life is a continous emergence. The trick is to not allow one's self to get stampeded into giving up important freedoms to the collectivists. The freedom to critisize openly and publicly is one of those important freedoms. So as long as we have Ann Coulter (who entertains me regularly), and Michael Moore, (who irritates me regularly), we can pretty well figure that our freedom to speak out is intact.

Quoting from an extract posted by some one . Is this a valid perception by Americans of themselves: "This country deserves anything our enemies can dish out, all of us. We have killed and maimed and destroyed the lives of so many others, 9-11 was just stage one, Bush has brought on stage two, three, four, and five — he took a region that was already seething with bitter hatred toward us and amplified that hatred a hundred fold. The chickens will come home to roost, and the vultures too. I ask you who could possibly run for president in 2008 that could do anything to change this disasterous course we are on? Maybe Bush has done us a favor by showing the rest of the world our true nature, the true colors of Americans and America. We are some of the worst human beings any nation has ever produced. Obese, sex and TV obsessed, consumers, selfish, greedy, self-righteous in our evilness — SUVs and guns and Paris Hilton, simulacra, nothing is real — we are all little Eichmans as that long-haired professor said only to be denounced. Hooray for Mitch McConnell! Hooray for John McCain! Hooray for Giuliani! Let’s just get it over with now!"

Liberal Seek Ban on Metaphors In Wake of Arizona Shooting by Ann Coulter After the monstrous shooting in Arizona last week, surely we can all agree that we've got to pass Obama's agenda immediately and stop using metaphors. At least I think that's what the mainstream media are trying to tell me. Liberals instantly leapt on the sickening massacre at a Tucson political event over the weekend to accuse tea partiers, Sarah Palin and all conservatives who talk out loud of being complicit in murder by inspiring the shooter, Jared Loughner. Of course, to make their case, they first must demonstrate: (a) Right-wingers have called for violence against anyone, especially conservative, pro-Second Amendment Democratic congresswomen; (b) Loughner was listening to them; and (c) Loughner was influenced by them. They've proved none of this. In fact, it's nearly the opposite. Needless to say, no conservative has called for violence against anyone. Nor has any conservative engaged in any "rhetoric" that was likely to lead to violence. Every putative example of "violent rhetoric" these squeamish liberals produce keeps being matched by an identical example from the Democrats. Sarah Palin, for example, had a chart of congressional districts being targeted by Republicans. So did the Democratic Leadership Committee. Indeed, Democratic consultant Bob Beckel went on Fox News and said he invented the bull's-eye maps. Similarly, every time liberals produce an example of military lingo from a Republican -- "we're going to target this district" -- Republicans produce five more from the Democrats. President "whose asses to kick" Obama predicted "hand-to-hand combat" with his political opponents and has made such remarks as "if they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun" -- making Obama the first American president to advocate gun fights since Andrew Jackson. These are figures of speech known as "metaphors." (Do liberals know where we got the word "campaign"?) It's not that both sides did something wrong; neither side did anything wrong. The drama queens need to settle down. The winner of the most cretinous statement of 2011 -- and the list is now closed, so please hold your submissions -- is MSNBC's Chris Matthews, who on Monday night recalled Palin's statement, "We're not retreating, we're reloading," and said, I quote, "THAT'S not a metaphor." Really, Chris? If that's not a metaphor, who did she shoot? By blaming a mass killing on figures of speech, liberals sound as crazy as Loughner with his complaints about people's grammar. Maybe in lieu of dropping all metaphors, liberals should demand we ban metonyms so that tragedies like this will never happen again. As for Loughner being influenced by tea partiers, Fox News and talk radio -- oops, another dead-end. According to all available evidence, Loughner is a liberal. Every friend of Loughner who has characterized his politics has described him as liberal. Not one called him a conservative. One friend says Loughner never listened to talk radio or watched the TV news. Throw in "never read books" and you have the dictionary definition of a liberal. Being completely uninformed is precisely how most liberals stay liberal. According to voluminous Twitter postings on Saturday by one of Loughner's friends since high school, Caitie Parker, he was "left wing," "a political radical" "quite liberal" and "a pot head." If any public figure influenced this guy, my money's on Bill Maher. But liberals have been so determined to exploit this tragedy to geld conservatives, they have told calculated lies about Loughner's politics. In the most bald-faced lie I have ever read in The New York Times -- which is saying something -- that paper implied Loughner is a pro-life zealot. This is the precise opposite of the truth. Only because numerous other news outlets, including ABC News and The Associated Press, reported the exact same shocking incident in much greater detail -- and with direct quotes -- do we know that the Times' rendition was complete bunk. ABC News reported: "One Pima Community College student, who had a poetry class with Loughner later in his college career, said he would often act 'wildly inappropriate.' "'One day (Loughner) started making comments about terrorism and laughing about killing the baby,' classmate Don Coorough told ABC News, referring to a discussion about abortions. 'The rest of us were looking at him in shock ... I thought this young man was troubled.' "Another classmate, Lydian Ali, recalled the incident as well. "'A girl had written a poem about an abortion. It was very emotional and she was teary eyed and he said something about strapping a bomb to the fetus and making a baby bomber,' Ali said." Here's the Times' version: "After another student read a poem about getting an abortion, Mr. Loughner compared the young woman to a 'terrorist for killing the baby.'" So that's how the Times transformed Loughner from a sicko laughing about a dead fetus to a deadly earnest pro-life fanatic. (Never believe a news story written by Eric Lipton, Charlie Savage or Scott Shane of The New York Times -- or for simplicity, anything in the Times.) I wouldn't have mentioned Loughner's far-left world view immediately after a tragedy like this, but now that liberals have opened the door by blaming Loughner's politics, they better brace themselves. And when I say "brace themselves," I don't mean they need to actually strap themselves into a brace. That's a metaphor, Chris.
