Hal Lindsey

Step into the Wayback Machine with me for a moment. The year is 1942. The United States is at war with the Axis Powers (Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Imperial Japan).
So far, America has been taking a real beating. All the war news is bad, and getting worse. The Japanese chased Douglas MacArthur all the way to Australia, occupying the Far East and taking hundreds of thousands of Allies prisoner.
The Germans conquered all of Europe in a matter of months, occupying Europe from the Baltics to the English Channel virtually unopposed. The Italians owned North Africa.
America had yet to win a decisive victory, and it appeared that we were in danger of losing the war. At home, support for the war had hit rock bottom.
Now, let's examine a hypothetical situation in that context and see how it sounds.
An 18-year-old Nazi sympathizer from one of the German-occupied countries immigrates to the U.S. with his mother. One day, he marches into Union Station and opens fire on every civilian not fast enough to dive under something, killing five before being dropped by an off-duty police officer.
The police chief is baffled by the attack. "It makes no sense," he said. "It appears to be a random attack." The FBI calls the attack "unexplainable." "He was just walking around shooting everyone he saw," said an FBI agent investigating the attack.
A major American newspaper in Cincinnati covers the story under the headline, "Gunman's Motive Still Unknown." In San Diego the next day, the headline was "Teenaged Gunman Who Killed 5 Targeted People at Random."
One day after the attack, according to a Colorado news headline, "FBI Rules Out Terrorism in Shooting."
Neither the police nor the media draw any inference from the fact the shooter is a Nazi sympathizer from a Nazi-occupied country in the middle of a war with the Nazis. In such a case, it would be no wonder that America had begun to fear it was losing the war. With such incompetents in charge of protecting Americans from enemy attacks at home, and aided and abetted by the media, how could they hope to win?
Now, let's fast-forward to Valentine's week, 2007. Instead of Union Station, it is a Utah shopping mall. And instead of being a Nazi, our shooter is a Bosnian Muslim.
But the headlines, and the "hypothetical" comments from the police and FBI are not hypothetical. Indeed, one would have to look long and hard even to discover the shooter was a Muslim.
Those few newspapers who dared to mention that Sulejman Talovic was a Bosnian Muslim were careful to follow up by saying there was no reason to believe there was any connection to Islamic terror.
The local television stations in Salt Lake City were downright sympathetic, saying that the gunman (whom they identified as a "teenager") was a "Srebrenica survivor" as if that were sufficient justification for gunning down ordinary Americans as they went about the daily business. (While any connection with Islam was wholly unjustified.)
Fox News reported the story under the headline, "Authorities Seek Motive for Bosnian Immigrant Teen's Shooting" – as if there were no possibility that Islam played any role.
Salt Lake's KUTV dutifully reported that Bosnia's ambassador was "shocked" by the attacks, while Salt Lake's mayor condemned commentators as "incredibly hateful and uninformed ... who see that a Muslim was involved and jump at such unjustified, outrageous conclusions."
The "unjustified and outrageous conclusions" to which Mayor Anderson is referring would be that Islam is somehow related to the massacre. Is such a conclusion more outrageous than assuming that Talovic gunned down his American hosts in retaliation for the behavior of Bosnian Serbs to Bosnian Muslims at Srebrenica?
The San Diego Union's headline was "Teenage Gunman Who Killed 5 in Utah Mall Targeted People at Random" – but denied any connection between Islam and the shooting.
The Denver Post's headline read, "FBI Rules out Terrorism in Utah Shooting" only 24 hours after the gun smoke had cleared. Is that a "justified" conclusion?
In 2002, Muslim convert John Allen Muhammad killed 10 innocent Americans and wounded three more critically. Authorities claimed no connection between Islam and the Beltway Sniper case.
That same year, an Egyptian immigrant, (also a Muslim) walked into LAX and shot down two EL Al employees before being killed by El Al Security.
In the past year, Ismail Yassin Mohamed, 22, stole a car in Minneapolis. He went on a rampage, ramming the stolen car into other cars and then stealing a van and continuing to ram other cars, injuring one person. During his rampage, Mohamed repeatedly yelled, "Die, die, die, kill, kill, kill," and when asked why he did all this, he replied, "Allah made me do it."
Omeed Aziz Popal, a Muslim from Afghanistan, killed one person and injured 14 during a murderous drive through San Francisco city streets in August 2006, during which he targeted people on crosswalks and sidewalks He identified himself as a terrorist after his rampage. Later the murders were ascribed to Popal's mental problems, and to stress arising from his impending arranged marriage.
On July 28, 2006, a Muslim named Naveed Afzal Haq forced his way into the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Once inside, Haq announced, "I'm a Muslim American; I'm angry at Israel," and then began shooting, killing one woman and injuring five more. FBI assistant special agent David Gomez stated: "We believe … it's a lone individual acting out his antagonism. There's nothing to indicate that it's terrorism-related. But we're monitoring the entire situation."
In March 2006, a 22-year-old Iranian student named Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar drove an SUV onto the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, deliberately trying to kill people and succeeding in injuring nine. During his arraignment, he explained that he was "thankful for the opportunity to spread the will of Allah."
Officials dismissed the possibility of terrorism, even after Taheri-azar wrote a series of letters to the UNC campus newspaper detailing the Islamic justification for warfare against unbelievers and explaining why he believed his attacks were justified from an Islamic perspective.
The FBI and the media assured the public in every case that there was no connection between Islam and the attacks.
Had America been blessed with such competent officials and such hard-hitting journalists in 1942, you'd be reading this column today in German.

Gee, I wonder what religion they were arguing about:

A local cab driver allegedly tried to run over two customers after a fight over religion became heated.
The incident happened early Sunday morning on the Vanderbilt campus and left one man hospitalized and a cab driver arrested, said police

Two students visiting from Ohio were coming from a bar downtown when they got into an argument with their driver over religion, said police. After they paid the driver he allegedly ran them down in a parking lot.

Ibrihim Ahmned, of United Cab, was arrested and charged with assault, attempted homicide and theft. One of the passengers, Andrew Nelson, managed to outrun the cab but Jeremy Invus was taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries, said police.

Ahmed has been convicted of misdemeanors including evading arrest in a motor vehicle and driving on a suspended license, said police.

Ahmed was charged with theft because police said the license plate on his cab was listed as stolen. His bond is set at $300,000.

And I wonder what point you’re trying to make - that two intoxicated students picked a fight with a cab driver and lost?

A little more background on the students and actual circumstances would help. Do the students have criminal records? Perhaps they’re bigots with a long history of provoking fights with those of a different religious, racial or ethnic background when they’ve been drinking? Did the students use, religious, racial or ethnic slurs? What does “heated” mean in this instance? Did they threaten the driver, was he in fear of being physically attacked, was he attacked? Did the students have any sort of weapons? Was the cab driver a Christian, the students Jewish or Muslim? Perhaps those questions are more important than what religion they were arguing about?

How to Spot a Republican Congressman

A cowboy is overseeing his animals in a remote pasture in the Texas Panhandle when suddenly this brand-new BMW advances out of a dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray-Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, will you give me a calf?"

The Texan looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing animals and calmly answers, "Sure, why not?"

The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his Cingular RAZR V3 cell phone, and surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo. The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored.

He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC-connected Excel Spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response.

Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the Texas cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves."

"That's right," says the Texan. "Well, I guess you can take one."

He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.

Then the cowboy says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my animal?"

The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"

"You are a Republican Congressman from the US House of Representatives," says the cowboy.

"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"

"No guessing required." answered the cowboy. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked; you tried to show me how much smarter than me you are, and you don't know a damn thing about cows - this here's a flock of sheep. Now give me back my dog!"

I believe we should look more at the non-government organizations(such as al-kaida) instead of the stereotypical muslim

Please check out the update on Albert in the Reaching Out portion of this site. He is in the hospital and is in quite a bit of pain. I think all of you should stop the banter for a minute and think about him and thank him for allowing this forum to exist.

Indeed, the troubles of the world are larger than the troubles that Albert and I face as single simple human beings. However, our troubles are very real to us and do impact all of you at this site.

A prayer or a thought or two sent Albert's way would make me feel much better.

Not my place to speak for all who post in this forum, but I feel sure we all do keep Albert, and you as well, in our thoughts and prayers not only during this difficult time but always.

We are as concerned about Albert and as grateful to him for giving us this wonderful site as those who post elsewhere here at the Starlite. Indeed we do thank him, and you, for giving us this forum.

Our bantering is nothing more than our rather peculiar way of voicing our concerns, our fears and anxieties over the world situation. I'm afraid we're all too set in our ways to change, so if our bantering is upsetting to Albert or you, please, close this forum.

Men Claim Cabbie Praised Hitler Before Attack

Reported By Laura McPherson

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Two college students involved in an alleged attack by an angry cab driver last month testified Monday that his rage came seemingly out of the blue.

Video: Crash Victim Says Cab Driver's Rage Unexpected

They said they weren't arguing or discussing religion, but that the cab driver went on a rant saying, "Hitler was right" and that "white people should be eradicated from the earth.”

The students said they paid their fare, but that the cab driver accelerated and ran over Jeremy Inbus.

Inbus suffered a broken leg and an injured pelvis.

Inbus said he didn’t remember the crash but that he recalled what the cab driver, Ibrahim Ahmed, told him and passenger Andy Wilson while they were in the cab.

“’Hitler did what he did and he was right for doing what he did because,’ the term he used, ‘Jews were responsible for the evil and corruption and the sin in the world. At some point, I believe Jews maybe became white people, and, you know, that’s why Hitler was a good person because he was trying to cleanse the world of these people,’” Inbus testified in court.

Ahmed is charged with attempted murder.

Police said Ahmed was driving Inbus and Wilson to the Vanderbilt area when the conversation turned to religion.

Wilson and Inbus said they told Ahmed to stop the cab once the conversation became heated.

“I just briefly said, ‘If you’re going to live in a country like ours, you’re going to have to learn to tolerate and accept other people’s beliefs and faiths, even if you don’t believe them yourself,’” Wilson testified.

“He(Ahmed) said he had become offended at the remarks the boys made and that made him very angry,” Officer John Pepper testified.

According to police, Inbus kicked the back of the cab driver’s seat, and Ahmed swung at him.

Wilson and Inbus then ran, according to police.

“Next thing I know, I heard the car accelerate,” Wilson said. “And Jeremy got struck.”

Inbus spent two days in the hospital and said he would be in a wheelchair for about three months.

Wilson and Inbus said they don’t recall how the conversation about religion began.

Ahmed told police that he had a hard time controlling his anger.

One had had 12 drinks the other 12 - 15. No wonder they can't remember how the conversation began. But they can remember nearly verbatim what the cabbie said? How very convenient.
They were in a heated discussion, kicked the back of the driver's seat but politely lectured him on the need to tolerate the beliefs of others? Do they really expect anyone to believe that nonsense?

No, but I will continue to speak up when you distort the facts or neglect to mention certain pertinent facts about an event as you did in your original post on this topic.

Sudden Jihad Syndrome Hits University of Missouri-Rolla

RUSH: Have you heard about what went on at the University of Missouri-Rolla? “Nearly two dozen people were being decontaminated yesterday after a white powdery substance was found on a student who claimed to have a bomb and threatened ‘terrorist-type' actions. The man, described as an ‘international graduate student,’ was depressed about his grades, according to police. School officials said possible bomb materials were found when he was taken into custody. Twenty-three people were sent through a decontamination process Tuesday morning outside the University's civil engineering building where a police standoff with the student had started around 2:30. Acting police chief Mark Kearse said when the cops arrived the student was holding a knife and that he held up a bag and said ‘this is a bomb.’ He also claimed to have anthrax. Mayor William Jenks said the student’s identity and nationality were not released had problems and was depressed.”

We have an international student; identity and nationality weren’t released; claimed to have a bomb; threatened terrorist type activities. How remarkable, ladies and gentlemen, no one knows his name. No one knows his homeland. Now, we have to ask ourselves, “Is there a common link with the many other little single incidents of sudden jihad syndrome?” Because that's what this is, sudden jihad syndrome. From cabdrivers to the flying imams to any number of activities. How about that nut that tried to run over the students at University of North Carolina last year. This is sort of like not naming the driver of an SUV. The SUV does all this. International student, identity and nationality not released. Hmm.

Outburst in Court at Taheri-azar Hearing
By Ken Ward
Authorities in Orange County had their hands full keeping Mohammed Taheri-azar in line while in court.

-------------------------------------------------
Taheri-azar, 23, is accused of driving a sport utility vehicle through a crowd of UNC students last March.
Monday he was in court to discuss letters he wrote to Eyewitness News and other news organizations from prison shortly after the attack. In those letters he admitted to driving his vehicle into "The Pit" at UNC to avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world.

During today's hearing, Taheri-azar yelled "death to America" as he entered the Orange County courtroom. "I hate all Americans," he said. "All Jews. May they all burn in hell. Death to Israel," yelled Taheri-azar.

The judge warned Taheri-azar to be quiet during the proceedings. That's when Taheri-azar turned to his own lawyer and said, "I don't know this moron."

That's when the judge order the already restrained Taheri-azar removed from the courtroom.

James Williams, Taheri-azar's lawyer reacted to his outburst. "He does have a severe mental illness and that mentall illness affects his actions and I believe affected his actions on the day in question and still affects his behavior and was affecting his behavior in court today," Williams said.

Taheri-azar pleaded not guilty in January to 19 counts attempted murder and assault charges. He is currently being held at Central Prison in Raleigh on a $5.5 million bond.

Officials have transported Taheri-azar to Dorothea Dix Hospital for a full mental evaluation. Doctors there will decide whether or not he's fit to stand trial.
