Tears

Tears

I will not dwell upon your loss
though I wish it were not so.
I will not run from memories' shadow
for these memories sustain me, I know.
I will shed no tears for lesser things
because I have learned tears are gems,
A gift of love, of fate, of life,
and so. I will not waste them.
I will not seek answers to questions
of when, or where, or why.
This too would be a wasted effort
no matter how hard I try.
Instead I will embrace what I have known,
a love that remains in many ways...
And promises made so long ago...
I will remember them forever and a day.
I miss you still
and love you more
than I ever thought
I could before.
You remain within me,
within each breath...
A promise made before the loss
and the sting of death.
So I will mourn but will not dwell
on sorrows left behind
For your faith in me keeps me strong
and peace and contentment are mine.

In you I had placed my trust
and it remains... forever and a day.
