Grains of Sand

Looking back in time
I guess I should have seen it coming
But I was taken by surprise
When you said you could take no more
Now the windows have been shattered
Broken glass across the floor
And I'm out the door

I find this hard to say
But I don't think we were ever really happy
Now we've pulled the mask away
And we can see us for who we are
Nothing more than grains of sand
Slipping through destiny's hands
To be forgotten
