Recycled Dreams (Challenge poem)
The wizard ran off
Peddling forgotten dreams
belonging to those who slept long and deep
Only to awaken with no thought of the places
In which they had wandered...
The wizard, being ever alert, rescued
Each dream from the place of discarded dreams
To recycle for those who no longer had
The heart to dream because one forlorn thing
After another dismayed...
'Dreams for sale!' He shouted merrily, along the way...
'Dreams for sale!' echoed in the streets...ah, but
No one wanted recycled dreams.
However, it occured to those who had ceased to dream, perhaps dreams had some value and they would try again.
The wizard smiled to himself and thought, 'How clever of me to fill their heads with fantacy dreams, dreams with value. Perhaps with a little music the dreams could reach their hearts.
He began to sing an out of tune song about life and
love and dreams...so sweet and soft he put himself to sleep under a willow tree where a robin sang about all the things of which dreams were made.
One by one the dreams were delivered and cherished by all the new owners. The wizard sighed
to himself, 'To be the merchant of dreams recycled is quite a feat.' He whistled as he went on his way in search of other foresaken dreams for those who had forgotten how.
