I Wrote A Poem On A Butterfly's Wings
As she fluttered by,
The words were
Like lacy snow flakes, falling from the sky.
A lovely canvas were her wings in delicate blue,
The words were sentimental and most certainly true.
She flew away to share the words in a garden alive with
From one to the other she flitted hour after hour.
Robins began to sing, the wind’s voice was still,
The lilacs laughed so did the daffodils.
The golden finch sang the poem to its own soft melody,
Cardinals joined in, just a little off key.
What a beautiful love poem, the crows sang in
Low raucous tones,
The Blue Jays sang a made up chorus, all alone.
Roses danced to the beat of the rhyme
It is lovely whispered the dandelions.
The sunbeams stole the poem from the butterfly’s wings,
Spread it around over hills, through the forest, let it bask
In the warm waters of a babbling stream,
Then put it to rest in someone’s dream.
Ah yes, It was a poem written on a butterfly’s wings
From a heart filled with love and a song to sing.
