What I Did When A Robin Came to Call
Yesterday I heard a robin's song and I recorded his melodious tone, Which put to rest a woeful yearning in me and I felt no longer alone.
He perched on my window sill each morning to chirp the most
I looked forward to his coming and some days my mocking bird and I sang along.
You should be on on Broadway I teased the robin, you could be a star...people will come to hear you, from near and far.
A robin on Broadway, such a brilliant thought...
Oh what madness had I wrought!
My own little mocking bird fluttered her wings as she too had been
Listening to the robin sing.
She had fallen in love with him to my disbelief, she was dancing
in her cage...Good grief!
l place the robin in the cage with my mocking bird and together they
made the most beautiful music, ever heard.
Now they are both on Broadway singing duets during each matinee,
A canary and a robin soon on their way to Carnegie Hall!
Well folks that's all!
