Heaven Sent

You saw in my empty eyes, I had no will to live,
You offered to be my friend, such a wonderful gift to give.

My rainy day blues had gone on much too long,
In my heart, there were only the saddest songs.
You took my hand in yours, at the old cottage door and
That haunted look, I felt leave my face; my fears were no more.

A second later, because of you, my sorrow was abated, I had faith
Again, life was worth living, and even myself, I no longer hated.
