ROWING BOAT BLUES
Smiles on the river
A sunny day indeed,
Rowing on the Thames
All the Swans to feed.
Picnic on the river bank
People wave as we go by,
Heaps of fun and laughter
In our rowing boat you and I.
Until you stood up of course
Then the fun really began,
You tipped us both in the drink
You stupid numbskull of a man.
Ruined my dress of beautiful lace
You call this romance, get outta my face,
The picnic's all ruined, what shall I tell Ma?
Birtie Smyth your nothing but a disgrace.
Oh! Please Priscilla it was the waves
From the other boat as it went by,
I'll have to tell Ma the truth said Priscilla
You know what I am like Birtie, I cant tell a lie.
Oh! Please Prissy, said Birtie please don't cry
I'm sorry Birtie there is no more to say,
I did love you so much Birtie
But the engagements off, as of today.
Oh! Priscilla don't end it this way
I'll buy you dinner at the Hilton or Ritz,
I'll give you a hundred pounds for a new dress
Please Oh! please Oh! please, I love you to bits.
No Birtie, you can beg all you like,
As far as I am concerned, you can get on your bike. Bye Bye.
