IN THE HEAT OF THE DAY

Were my eyes deceiving me
I wasn't quite sure,
I walked across the park
I saw these figures and more.

In the beauty of the sunshine
I noticed way off in the haze,
Dancing figures in a circle
In dress of the Victorian days.

I thought it must be an open air play
How exciting I must go and see,
Perhaps they have a punch and Judy show
But as I looked round the park
There was only myself and me.

I was sitting on a park bench
I must have dozed off in the heat,
What a lovely dream that was though
I'll come back tomorrow
And book a front row seat.
