I found a little pussycat
He was curled up on my bed,
And when I asked his name
He said that it was Fred.
He told me he lived in my house
A very long, long time ago,
In the time of the Victorians
And that he was a clown in a show.
I said, how come you're a cat now?
He said, well, I was a dead loss as a clown,
I kept getting drunk and forgetting my act
And falling all over the people in the town.
Upstairs they decided I should be a cat
You may not like it but I'm here too stay,
So here I am I'll be your bestest friend
And if you look after me we'll be okay.
I thought a cat talking to me I had to smile
Fred said, if you look after me although I am a ghost,
I can teach you lots of things you know
Like how to grill salmon for me on toast.
I held my head I thought I was in bed dreaming
I said, if you're so clever what's my name?
He said don't insult my intelligence Tony
I know you're a writer but your not to blame.
I said, damned cheek you've got, I'm a Starlite poet
With that the cat jumped from my lap and I awoke,
I shouted Fred where do you think your going
Don't you want your grilled salmon?????? LOL
