The waves crash upon the shore On a bitter evening walk, I can hardly move a step As the wind takes my breath And bites into my skin Like a razor bringing blood. I hang onto a rail and fear for my life As the roaring ocean Soaks me in one foul swoop. My hands and body are frozen I know if I let go of the rail I will never see my family again, I will be transported across the road By the wind and cut to pieces As the glass shatters in the shop window. Either that or I will freeze to death. Hurricane force winds show no compassion Failing that I could be drowned. There wasn't another soul in sight I had to take a chance, I counted and prayed as never before The force of the wind lifted me bodily I was sent flying through the air, My body thudded against the glass window And quite took the breath from my lungs. Everything went dark I must have passed out I woke in the hospital a broken leg for my pains, I couldn't believe it I screamed I'm alive It's a miracle I really should have died. The glass didn't break or shatter You have been very lucky said the nurse, Just after they picked you up and brought you here A driver was killed when smashing into that same shop. it was your neighbour so I am informed his wife is here now and recognised your name, So I would say you're the lucky one he was going to come out walking with you she said, but that's fate I suppose you're are not to blame.
