In the Moment

like pierced hearts
like drops of wine on white linen
like lost virginity

winter's subtle grasp noticeably tightens

in the moment of warmth and
in the moment when we let our heart go then
in the moment we realized where it went

winter fixed her gaze tighter, still

she'd been watching all along
she'd been waiting all along and
she'd been wanting all along

to prove she wouldn't leave like a lamb

she's a lioness of sorts
she's a liar to hearts
she's a line we do not dare cross

winter, you seasoned whore, spreading her disease across my land!
