Night to Fall

the trees bristle through the final moments
of the sun's setting like a comb
raking through an ocean of pink and orange hair
with the silver streak of clouds, showing age.
then in an instant the sun sleeps
just as fast as my eyes can watch
another ending to a day that strikes
the calender ever closer to fall.
the sweet smell of evening air,
fragranced with creation,
is just a taste of what's to come.
