Not Too Long

Not too long.
Short attention spans
can't stand
grand
panoramas.

Write for the grandmas sitting in pajamas
waiting, making breakfast of a two-minute egg
reading absently, drinking oolong tea
with whole wheat toast and orange marmalade.

Please accept my echoing aubade
(oh bad! oh bad!)

I visualize
your still-clouded eyes -
from sleep
just after you rise.
And I realize
how deep
this feeling I prize
these hours my heart tries
to keep.
