Love Poem

I'll write of the love of latter years
(oh, not that I'm that old -
and not that it's some secret
that would remain untold
if not told here.)

But yet, so dear, so dear
the softness in her eyes -
acceptance of my quirks and moods
my random sighs, my -
vague stare into distance
sometimes.

And how we laugh at each other's jokes!
No one tries
too hard, and I'm
happy pretty often
when she's near.

(And oh - so dear, so dear
that softness in her eyes
when she looks at me -
thinking I don't see!)
