Who Will You Be

Who will you be to me someday,
as seasons change, and years decline?
Will you remain, or slip away?

Will we be cozy, fond and gray
halves of a whole - two souls entwined?
Who will you be to me - someday?

Please, don't be tired eyes where dismay
grows as years and hurts combine.
Will you remain, or slip away?

Say we'll always be okay
Shade the truth some. I don't mind.
Who will you be to me - someday?

In Fall things ripen or decay
swell or wither on the vine.
Will you remain or slip away?

This I promise. I will stay.
I expect things will be fine.
Who will you be to me someday?
Will you remain, or slip away.
