Jesus
The cross was carried on His back
As He stumbled up Calvary's hill
He was giving His precious life
In order to do God's will
As the blood poured down His bleeding back
And all the pain He bore
He was mocked by those below
For the crown of thorns He wore
As He lifted up His dying eyes
To pray for you and me
God darkened the skies, for all the sin
His son bore , He could not see
With His last breath He uttered the words
Forgive them , Father, today
Deliver them from all their sins
Send salvation their way
The earth did quake, the dead arose
The sacrifice was done
The lamb was slain but would soon arise
To sit at the right of God's throne
Unfailing love was shown that day
As his life he gave for you and I
And if we serve him till the end
One day we'll live with him on high
