Dad
When I was a young man, my dad told me to be proud of who you are.
He said you must remember, God, country, honor and family.
No matter where you travel, near or far,
remember these things and your pride they can see.
He told me to follow the rules of God,
no matter how hard it may be.
Even though others may think you odd,
hold tight to what you believe.
He told me to always defend America,
even with your life if that's what it takes.
This is the land of freedom, others want to take that away,
we can't put that at stake.
He told me that honor is,
as honor does.
If you take a chance with it,
then honor you lose.
He told me that next to God,
family was most important.
Even when this body,
is gone, the family will still be in existence.
When my son was a young man, I told him to be proud of who he was.
