My heart had turned to stone,
had no idea what love was anymore.
I was left stranded all alone,
when she up and closed that door.
I went struggling on with my life,
with no one left to care about me.
My days were filled with tears and strife,
until I turned the corner and what did I see.
You, my love waiting there in the shadows,
I have spent most of my life wondering.
What I was seeking was always close,
I just could not see for looking.
Now that I have met you,
my heart once again is flesh.
But, what should we do,
our love is so new and fresh.
We must somehow be together,
to share the love we both have found.
I believe it could last forever,
even after we have been laid in the ground.
