Calm

The Raccontino

The warm sun beat down on my back,
it made me think of the calm sea.
The sky the color of azure,
making me feel like I was free.
Soft white clouds floated through the sky,
how beautiful they are to see.
The flowers set in the garden,
oh how lovely they are to me.
The smell in the air entrancing,
as I lean back against a tree.

This poem written for The FOS Best of/Worst of Year 3 Top Ten
challenge. This week is number 8, with a choice of the worst –
raccontino, or the best – zejel.

Raccontino

The raccontino is an unlimited number of couplets, rhyming xb xb
xb xb xb, etc. The syllable count is set in the first line and
followed throughout the poem.

Zejel

The first stanza, known as the mudanza, has three lines, rhyming
aaa. All the other stanzas - as many of them as you like - have 4
lines, rhyming bbba, the a rhyme harking back to the first
stanza. So the overall rhyming scheme for the poem is
aaa/bbba/ccca/ddda/...

Colloquial language tends to be used, and 8-syllable lines are
usual (though not obligatory)!
