He has a home and family that he is justly proud of.
But when duty calls, he gives his all...
And it's in all in the name of love.
Love for the country he calls his own...
Love of the freedom we share...
He goes to war and becomes a man without a home
While he is fighting for us over there.
He sleeps on the ground, his pillow his backpack...
He eats cold rations out of a sack...
When he sleeps, he dreams of home
And wishes he was back...
Back with the girl he left behind...
Back with the son she says looks like him.
Memories of a love so true have cause to leave
Him troubled and blue but just now he can't
Take the time to grieve as he fights for a country
That takes for granted his leave that he may never receive.
His memories of love so far away from this distant shore
Are the only thing that keeps him going in this war.
He has missed them so since they were apart...
But when he awakes, he tucks his memories in his heart
And trudges on through the miles and battles he's required to go
And takes it all on the chin just so...
The country he loves...America can be free.
The American Soldier is giving his all
For the love of his home, his country and his family.
He fights for God and Country,
For home and family...
He gives his all...even his life...
No...freedom isn't free!
