My Greatest Fear

The tom tom beat of the voodoo drum
Pounds hot within my brain
And the fear it creeps along my spine
Till I think I'll go insane

My blood runs cold tho my flesh is hot
Pure terror floods my soul
And old fear it cuts like a sharp steel knife
As I scream with no control

With each lightening flash and each thunder roll
As the tree limbs whip about
I sit here frozen in this place
Brass fear it fills my mouth

My legs grow weak and I cannot walk
Tho I want to run away
By fear impaled like a target shot
Frozen in place I stay

My lungs contract and won't expand
As my eyes lose focus, dim
I close the lids , pray to God above
And put my trust in him

With the viscious crack of a lightening strike
My yard lights up outside
Well I lose all hope and my crazy heart
Takes a fear filled coaster ride

It happens every single time
And no control have I
And every time there's a thunderstorm
Brother fear , well he stops by

He wants to be my neighbour
He tells me he's my friend
But when the storm is over
I can banish him again
