Get Rid Of The Advertisements

She Wonders, She Waits

Back to back, she listens to his breathing
wondering why they no longer share
those insatiable, lust-filled nights
sleeping from pure exhaustion.
Life's interference clear,
work keeps him away-
that's what he says.
His dreams are
not of
her.
~
He
forgets
all they share
when night calls him
from his lonely sleep,
a new dream waits
luring him
back to
lust.
~
His
mistress
dreams of him
each lonely night,
lost among cold sheets,
empty arms ache with want-
bruised by the blunt force of love.
Her needs can't and won't be fulfilled
as weeks and months turn into long years-
she hugs her pillow wet with tears and waits.
