Staying Together

Empty dreams, forgotten promises,
Life has fallen into a binding rut,
Needing to find new horizions
Instead of just staying put.

Day after day the same oh,
Nothing different to explore,
Cooking, washing dishes
Mopping yet another floor.

No friends come to visit,
Or relatives give a call,
Just the two of them together,
Living within a dividing wall.

No interests do they share,
Each doing their own thing,
Sticking to the vows they made
Still wearing their wedding ring.

Til death do they part,
They will stay until the end,
Living in the same house,
Still being each other's best friend.
