Remembering Love

Loves lost, loves gained
With sweet inquire down memory lane
Gone my mother, gone my dad
Siblings , those I never had

Days of school, work and play
All loved briefly.. Gone away
Leaving love forever true
Memory’s road leads me to you

In later years.. Sit every day
Watching present slip away
To years past when I’m with you
Finding love when it was new

Met you on a rainy day
Sometime in the month of May
Just a visitor to our town
I was told to show you round

Went walking in the summer sun
Savoring our life to come
Kissing under old birch tree
Learning bout the birds and bees

Walking aisle in gown of white
Steaming sultry wedding night
Soon first child was on the way
Oh how I loved yesterday

All too soon our kids were grown
Found their loves and left our home
So we held each other close
Sharing things we loved the most

Listening to that music sweet
Hearts keep time with every beat
Taking walks in warm spring rain
Bring back yesterday again

Alas! One day the sadness came
You couldn’t hear me call your name
Angels came to fly you home
My tears flowed.. I’m so alone

Sad an lonely , waiting to
For the day I’ll follow you
Your life was lost. Sweet heaven gained
Someday there I’ll call your name

There at top of golden stairs
Dear I’ll know I’ll find you there
Sitting waiting just for me
Reunited there’ll we’ll be.

No more need to turn life's page
No more memories to engage
Loves were lost but there with you
We'll be stars in the heavens blue.
