Winter’s Cold

Minutes that take hours to pass
Hours that go on without end.
Snow freezing the tears on my face
Looking for shelter from reality’s wind.

Spring will come in a few short years
And I hope the sun will find me there
Feeling at peace with a memory of a time
When I learned what it meant to care.

But now, the cold of winter freezes me.
A void in my heart, an echo of emptiness.
Inside and out, the only place I find warm.
Is in the memory of a gentle heart’s caress.
