This Was Love

This Was Love

I remember passion, the sensual
delight that comes with the singular
beating of two hearts, the heady rush

that warms like sipped champagne,
fingertips flickering upon skin as does
a candle's flame to wick.... I remember

each whisper captured within breath
of another, each decadent kiss, each
moment woven with silken strands

of sultry and I remember the song,
the melody with no words that echoed
softly beyond temptation's edge, beyond

fulfillment's plateau, and quiet of afterglow...
oh, yes, I remember... this was love
as only you and I could make it
