To Dear Old Don ~ Repost

It may be how the moon lined up with the stars last night

Or perhaps it was the pizza we ate

Or how Waldo looked up at you

With those adoring puppy dog eyes

As you scratched his little head

It may have been the sameness of this day

As it reflects yesterday, and perhaps tomorrow

Or how you asked me, “Are you REALLY going to eat THAT?

Are you mad at your BELLY?”

Or it could have been when you called to me

So I could see the hummingbird feeding from the nectar

Of the flowers you planted just for them

Or when you brought me the sweet corn

Picked fresh from your garden

But I think I’ve fallen in love with you.

Again.
