Uncertainty a Mystery

I came upon a tattered bridge
that spanned a river who's name I did not know,
though weather-beaten firm it stood
that across it I might go.

To the middle I ventured out
then sat pondering whether or not to cross.
Advance and my lives uncertain,
turn back and my lives a loss.

What awaited me on the other side
was veiled in a darkness of thee unknown.
Yet forward was my decision of choice
and I would make this trip alone.

While I walked I saw scenes of my life
as if shown from a movie reel,
yet these visions were all new to me,
a certain uneasiness I began to feel.

I asked myself what can these mean?
Are these viewings of what I am to live?
My understanding persecuted,
no answers to these questions could I give.

Alas I came to a sign that read;
For you ti's only to know history.
The specialness of life is found in one thing,
that our future is a Mystery.
