What Have I Become?-Abuse Poem-
A little girl walking on her way back home,
A stranger looking on and waiting on.
Come take my hand he said and led me away,
I was never to know if I’d be okay.
Didn’t know what was going to happen next,
Only wish that I’d be blessed.
Who was she to turn to when there was no one else in sight,
But a kindred little heart she could try to fight.
The bruises proved everything that day,
A once happy little girl in the world of play.
All of that no longer going to be true,
As she stood punched up black and blue.
Her hair was falling out by the tossing and turning as she slept,
With the tears smeared into her face was all she felt.
The stranger took and dragged her tiny little arm his way,
No longer was she to see her momma and papa today.
Phones rang in and out at her house that day its true,
But empty handed was all that came up and nothing new.
He pondered more and just what he should do then looked her in the face,
She had this glow around her as if she was angelic in this place.
The Stranger fell backwards and hit his head against the cabinet true,
The little girl didn’t know better she handed him a wet cloth too.
He wondered why she was helping him that day after he took her away,
She knew that Angels were watching her and being with her to stay.
Later that day he brought her back just where they originally met,
Curled up he cried and prayed that this would all be over yet.
The little girl looked at him and said “God is with you because you brought me home,
Now you’ll never ever have to be alone.”
A moment not too soon he gave himself in and he said to her “I’m sorry its true.”
The little girl looked at him and said “It’s ok, I forgive you.”
God’s hand was on her that day when the stranger took her home,
But God’s hand was in it the whole time and now neither will be alone.
